the Sword of the Prevening
In terms of size, possibly. But Oberyn was a very skilled fighter in his own right.
The Dornishman's Widow
One of them is a giant - check. That giant is seen as the heavy favourite - check. The challenger uses unconvential weaponry that's seen as less effective - check. It's surprisingly effective - check. It's the twist at the end that spins it into the opposite direction though of course.
Adara
Gregor/Goliath kind of won this one. So no. But more detailed replies will follow
The Viper of Dorne
No, since Oberyn/David died as well.
Jimmy is not No One
No because oberyn was a grown man and a prince. David was iirc a peasant teenager/child. David only went to the front lines of the battle to bring back news of his older brothers to his father and then decided to challenge Goliath. Oberyn a goal the whole time was to get vengeance. But any time an underdog or a smaller person goes up against a favorite/ larger person, the David and Goliath comparison comes up.
Tall Tyrion Lannister
David won because of his faith in God, who made the stone hit Goliath in the right place. The point was that size is irrelevant due to David's faith.Oberyn and Gregor was all about martial skill ( and poison :cool4: ), it's ironic that the fictional fight contains a lot less fantasy than the historical one. Ser Greg of House House
I'm really not a religious person. I know the story overall, obviously, but how did David succeed? Was it a miracle or was it cunning? If it's the former, I don't think it applies. Anyway, Oberyn was a skilled warrior so it would be a stretch anyway. The only reason people thought Gregor was the obvious favorite is they're in Kingslanding. In Dorne, people would bet on Oberyn.
