There are several new locations that will be visited in season 5 of GOT. Braavos, Volantis and Dorne are the three that spring to mind. Where to you think these locations will be shot. Venice seems a likely choice for Braavos, considering they are both cities built on lagoons. However, perhaps Venice is too modern to be of use since it's a decent sized city in Western Europe (though I really don't know as I've never been there). Dorne should be a much easier place to find a location for, as there have been many desert scenes in GOT already.Morocco and Malta have been used for such scenes, but I change a new locatation would be in order for Dorne. I always imagined the Dornish desert looking a little different from those in Essos. There are deserts in America with views of the Rocky Mountains on the horizon. This is similar to how I imagined Dorne, a vast desert with the Red Mountains of Dorne in the background. As for Volantis, I don't even know where to start. It's such a unique city, and is also quite large and expansive. I imagine it may be a bit tricky to find a suitable location for this one. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think they will use Croatia for Pentos, as I think they used it in the s1 Illyrio Mopatis place, and Volantis could use either Morocco or Croatia. If they want canals why not just go to Birmingham. :agree: there are many cities with canals a lot cheaper than Venice (though I agree, in a perfect world, Venice will be a perfect Braavos) Spain will be great for Dorne, I always picture it like Andalusia, but it could be done in Croatia, just like Meereen, Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Birmingham as Braavos would be hilarious, I'm now going to constantly imagine all the Braavosi with Brummie accents. I live near there as well so I could go and see it get filmed. The Alcazar in Seville would be a great Sunspear, but the Alhambra would be the ideal Sunspear (all three locations were actively scouted, according to WIC). Having seen "The Vampires of Venice," I would have to agree that Trogir would be a fine Braavos - or Volantis. I imagine Volantis also has some canals, maybe not as pronounced as Braavos, though. Also, am I truly alone in thinking that the ideal Braavos is Amsterdam rather than Venice? Easier to do than use either Amsterdam or Venezia (Braavos seeming to be a hybrid of these two canal-filled places), where it would be hard to hide the modernity of the place.One does not need too many outdoor shots to make Braavos convincing. Set the scenes mostly in the narrow streets and alleys between buildings , and so on. Also, am I truly alone in thinking that the ideal Braavos is Amsterdam rather than Venice? With the CGI Landscaping they have done so far, and I am amazed how much there, I think they could make Manhandle look like KL! So far the show has taken advantage of tax breaks and maybe even some subsidy , it's sure made tourist money for Croatia and NI. It would indeed be expensive to film in the Netherlands. Italy could use the production money and have not heard they have any kind of break on big film production. (Beside it's almost impossible to visit Venezia these days , the place is lousy with tourists almost all year round.) Seems Spain said the production could film there Free! It could also boost tourism in Spain and Spain could really use that kind of money. We know about Dorne, but I am still guessing Meereen and Braavos will shot in Spain. Meereen seems 'stage bound' right now, and I am afraid of the same thing happening to Braavos. When not at the House of Black and White, will that set be built in Belfast? or they use a location?...things sprawl in Braavos , I hope they keep that in the show. I know lots of people jump to the conclusion this is the ToJ, but if they use Seville (and the Alcazar) for Sunspear, then that tower doesn't look dornish at all. Google it, you'll see various faces carved on the walls which might represent the Faceless Men.As for Dorne, I kinda don't like where they'll be shooting.
