Kaguya
Joffrey was described in the book for being tall and handsome, and no offense to the mighty Jack Gleeson but he doesn't fit any of those descriptions, even though his acting is top notch perfect, however i would have liked to see the book version of Joffrey on screen, appearing handsome and flattering, showing the audience that handsome people can be vile, it would have made a good contrast on screen as it did in the book. Is there any actors any of you have in mind that fit this description?

DaveyJoe
Seriously? Jack Gleeson is perfect as Joffrey.
Kaguya
Seriously? Jack Gleeson is perfect as Joffrey. In Personality, yes, in appearance? No
Lady Olenna
I suppose they could have put a curly wig on him, but really, no one could do Joff like Jack has.
Chuck88
Why would you want to? When someone nails the part like Jack has, the physical appearance becomes secondary. He's hardly a million miles away from the description anyway.
Hangover of the Morning
He is absolutely perfect as Joffrey. He makes a fairly flat and sadistic character interesting and fun to watch (repeatedly). Usually these type of characters are either just frustrating, super boring or too disturbing to watch. I sometimes almost feel sorry for him (Robert's death bed) or get hugely entertained by him (his speech about the Targaryen kings or about the bedding traditions at Tyrion's wedding). He balances perfectly the combo of cruelty, stupidity, idiocy, immaturity with the desire to be loved and respected. I love how he always sits on the throne like it was a BarcaLounger and how his crown is always sloppily resting on his head. What a bratty teenager. The Lady Leela
I agree, Jack is absolutely perfect. I can't even imagine anyone else as Joffrey. His little sneer is fantastic.
Mother of Mini Dragons
Jack Gleeson is perfection and I'm glad he doesn't have the long, blond curls. That's one of the things that works in the books, but probably would not translate well to the screen and Jack is a very handsome young man so I'm not sure why anyone would imply that he isn't. I love him in this role.
King Tyrion I
Jack Gleeson nails the part. I wouldn't want any other actor for Joffrey.
~DarkHorse~
Yep, Jack Gleeson is perfect for Joffrey and one of the best cast decisions on the show. He may not have the exact appearance but either did Sean Bean and he nailed Ned. I wouldn't care if Jack Gleeson had brown hair, he would still be Joffrey. His acting is top-notch when it comes to portraying a sinister, out of control brat. The way he says 'I am the King!' and 'what did you say?' at Tyrion's drunken wedding threat was incredible- almost demonic. He makes you feel sorry for the characters existence- mad because of incest -and laugh when Tyrion or Tywin erase that smugness from his face. It makes me sad that he is giving up acting after GOT. I think he says that he can't even watch his own performance because its unnerving seeing himself that evil.
Lady Beyond the Wall
Casting was perfect for Joffrey! He was utterly brilliant, completely evil.
Koi No Yokan
I don't see how Jack couldn't be considered handsome. Anyway, I'd much rather have an actor embody the character perfectly, as Jack does, opposed to looking like the book counterpart just for the sake of it. Israel
The batman begins kid did a great job, seriously cant imagine another Joffrey. They shoulda done a much better job on Lady Stark, Sansa and Jon exactly , why don't I see threads like this about anyone else but Jack? Hes been a very dependable major antagonist for 3 full seasons. One could say that the meat of this show rides on how much of a prick Joff is and I have to say that hes doing great. Harry Lime
Yeah, to get this many audience members to absolutely despise Joffrey, Gleeson must be doing something right. But just for fun... I guess Michael Pitt would have worked if he were younger. He played a good sadist in Funny Games.

Annara Snow
Sansa? Sophie Turner makes an excellent Sansa, appearance wise and acting skills. Yes, she's perfect in both performance and physical description of the character, something I can't say for that many cast members (most of them are great or at least good actors, but quite a few don't really match the book description, not that it matters that much).
