Khal Peteos
In my opinion it is the death of Viserys simply for what Drogo says after having tipped the molten gold onto his head.

Ko Rakharo
Well, to anyone who hadn't watched the series -- like me -- I think Joffrey ordering Eddard's death was a sudden change in the tides, unexpected and key. Best death IMO.
ThePrinceWhoisFlummoxed
I am really surprised that no one has yet chimed in with a "keep reading" on this topic. I don't think that it is really a spoiler to say that there are more deaths to come . . .
Anarchosaurus Rex
In my opinion it is the death of Viserys simply for what Drogo says after having tipped the molten gold onto his head. "A crown for a king" is probably the most insulting thing Drogo could have said to Viserys before he died. Love it!
Iron Hawk
*********I'M NOT ENTIRELY POSITIVE WHAT THE RULES ABOUT SPOILERS ARE. THIS POST CONTAINS INFORMATION UP TO THE LAST EPISODE OF SEASON 1. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED WATCHING SEASON ONE OR READING THE BOOK, UNLESS YOU WANT EVENTS TO BE SPOILED. THIS POST DOES NOT CONTAIN AINY INFORMATION BEYOND THE FIRST SEASON.**************** I had actually had an attachment to Jory Cassel; I was sad to see him go. He way loyal to Ned; he cared about the safety of Ned's children, and he was just a likable character. Being honest, I didn't expect him to die as soon as he did. Now for the sake of the topic, the "best death" can mean a number of things. 1. Saddest?Generally this would be Ned Stark, but I wasn't to upset over Ned's death. I thought Ned was weak. The Mad King killed his brother and father and it was under his rule that his sister was killed. Not only Ned's family, but the Mad King killed lot's of innocent people. Jaime stabbed the Mad King in the back, but he did a good thing by saving people. Ned was too caught up in "honour," and despised Jaime. Then when Ned lost, he gave up; he confessed to his "treason." I wish he would have held his own and refused to confess the crime he did not commit. With that, my personal saddest death would be A - Respect: Khal Drogo, horrific creature, but I liked him. Especially seeing the monologue after the wine-seller assassin tried to kill his wife. Khal Badass.B - Sudden: Syrio Forrel, he really seemed to care about Arya. Most of his time was spent just training Arya, but when the Lannisters showed up, he turned out to be a hurricane of ass kicking. Seeing him in that light really made me like him even more; it's too bad he died just as soon though.C - Literal: Jory Cassel, as mentioned before, I was sad that Jory died. 2. Happiest?Perhaps the best death is the happiest death? If this is the Case, I may pick Viserys. He was an arrogant little pretty-boy who thought he deserved everything he wanted. I liked his character, I'm glad he had a part, what good is a show if there is no one to hate? Everyone show needs a to-be-hated character, and Viserys is one of those characters, but from an objective point of view, in reality I would want him dead. 3. Surprising? This doesn't need a description. Ned takes this one. Shout out to Khal (Badass) Drogo. Robert Baratheon also deserves an honourable mention, I didn't expect the King to die so soon. 4. OverallI could give many other possibilities, but I'll stop here. What is the "best death" overall? Again, "best death" can mean a number of things, but overall I personally choose Jory; I just developed an attachment even with his short life and fairly low level of importance. To answer this non-personally, I pick Ned . Viserys disrespected the Dothraki and they didn't care about him. I didn't expect the Dothraki to ever do anything for him. The Dothraki also seem like people that would take his sister as a wife and purposefully not live up to their end of the deal. So that eliminates Viserys from having the "best death." Viserys at number three. Drogo comes in second. The reason I don't think he had the "best" is because the Dothraki didn't care about anything beyond the Narrow sea, much less a throne. Drogo was the one the promised to cross the sea and take the throne, but the khalessar began to stop liking Drogo. So I am left believing that now that Drogo is dead, none of the Dothraki have any concern for the promises he made of taking the throne for Rhaego. With Drogo gone, the Dothraki seem to be insignificant at this point. Ned had the best death. Although the show has no "main character," Ned naturally became the main character. To see him go as soon as he did, (remember he didn't even make it to the last episode), I was flabbergasted, mainly because now I am left not knowing what to expect. If anyone else would he died, I would have thought "big deal," but Ned? Ned's death makes me realize the story is about to explode. There it is; if I am to think with the Majority, Ned had the best Death. If I think alone and personally, Jory had the best death; I was more sad over his death than anyone else. Khal Peteos
Fair points made there Iron Hawk, the fact that such a pivotal character like Ned went so soon in the book series was certainly a surprise. Same with King Robert and Drogo. But I just love what Drogo says to Viserys as he pours the gold over his head.
King Tyrion I
I also pick The Ned. Honorable mentions: Syrio Florel, Khal Drogo, Viserys and of course, King Bob.
Iron Hawk
But I just love what Drogo says to Viserys as he pours the gold over his head. Me too, I liked every time Drogo spoke English. "You. Are. No. King." was awesome too. But everything about that scene was cool. I also liked how Drogo knelt down really quick and got up in Viserys's face. Iron Hawk
Honorable mentions: Syrio Florel, Khal Drogo, Viserys and of course, King Bob. You forgot about the desserter from episode one and the butcher's boy; it tore me up to see them go.
BornInTheShadows
I would have to say that Viserys's death was because I loved Khal Drogo in that scene. It was perfect. I also really liked Khal Drogo's death. It was so sad! I loved him.
MoseStark*
Hmm, I think Viserys was the "best" dead, I think GRRM did a very good job at the whole dialogue about his dead and the "A golden crown for a king." thing. Also his dead was so... original. The most surprising was Ned, even though the books do not have a main character. The main one in the first book for me was Ned, everything was set up around his character and he was important. Jory and Syrio were really sad, just as Mycah (the butcher's boy) and all the other Northern man that came with Ned and his daughters. It was also heartbreaking to see Drogo die. And not to forget Rhaego... The Stallion that mounts the world should've lived.
Iron Hawk
And not to forget Rhaego... The Stallion that mounts the world should've lived. Well on the bright side, now he won't terrorize any villages or rape any villagers.

johnnyonthespot
Viserys' death was the most spectacular. He was just one of those characters that you want to see eat it. I actually thought Drogo's death was the most memorable, though. I honestly thought that Drogo and his army was going to be a major continuing force throughout the book series. I was shocked at the way he fell ill and found it very touching the way he died.
Facha Martell
Hands down, Viserys. The irony in Drogo giving him the gold crown he promised was actually clever, surprising and kinda funny.
TheNiggardlyBastard
I also pick The Ned. Honorable mentions: Syrio Florel, Khal Drogo, Viserys and of course, King Bob. We don't even know if Syrio is dead
Wut Wut
Sansa's direwolf, Lady. Poor innocent animal, even Ned was sad because it was so wrong.I agree, to me it was the most heartbreaking death in the entire saga (yes, including all the deaths that came after).
