KellieBom
I really, really liked him a lot. I'm almost done my first read of the books and I'm on my second marathon of the show. Ned was a really fucking cool guy. I'm really counting on those Stark kids to do honor to his name. I also have to send some love for our fallen Khal Drogo. His fierceness, his love for Dany, his abs. Sigh.
TyrionsFlagon
I saw the first season before I read the books, and I felt the same way, that Ned was awesome and shouldn't have died. I wonder if I would have read the books first if I would have liked him less...or more.
KellieBom
Ned reminds me of my dad. I think that's why I love him so much. So sweet with his daughters!

LEX_12345
Anyone think he heard Bran talking to him through the white tree? He did smile at it after Bran called him ...father the first time...
Anarchosaurus Rex
There is no other character like Ned in the series - no one with the same sense of integrity and honor. His death, however integral a part of the story, still deprived the series of one of its strongest voices. It is fashionable among some readers to mock Ned's naivete in the "Game of Thrones" - oh, what an idiot, he trusted a mother not to endanger her children in her bid for power - but they are missing the point. The fact that honest men (Ned) lose the game while dishonest men (Littlefinger) win it is an indictment of the game itself, not its victims. Ned reminds me so much of my grandfather - stoic on the outside, but sensitive on the inside, as well as brave, dutiful, loving, and loyal. 100%Targ
Ned was the only full blooded proper Stark :( As for Drogo, good riddance. Mass murderer/rapist barbarian.

I'd say Davos is quite like Ned, but yes there are precious few characters like this.
dbjm
Ned was the only full blooded proper Stark :( I would presume Ned's mother wasn't a Stark. Which means all his kids were full blooded Starks....

Northern light
Also, as the book series go on, we as readers and characters in the book get the insight how meaningless this "game" is.
shearstone
I feel the same way with both Ned and Robb, I'm currently re-watching the show in time for season 4 and it still hurts knowing the doom that's coming that I switch off the episode before Ned's execution and the RW and I've done the same whilst re-reading the books. Which I know is quite pathetic as it's fiction.

joluoto2
Ned was the only full blooded proper Stark :( As for Drogo, good riddance. Mass murderer/rapist barbarian. Ned's honour wasn't really a typical Stark thing though. His elder brother, his sister and his father seem to all have been very different. Ned's behaviour seem to have more to do with him being raised by Jon Arryn.
Barty
Ned was awesome. A decent human in an indecent world. Poor Robb was trying to be so much like Ned, not knowing that being Ned is what got the Ned killed.

I didn't mean it literally; of course they're all Stark. By full blooded I meant Stark like, possessing all the qualities a true Stark has in my view. By full blooded I meant Stark like, possessing all the qualities a true Stark has in my view. What is a true Stark? In how Rickard Stark was ambitious yet Ned wasn't. Brandon (Ned's brother) was wild and a womanizer while Ned wasn't. Lyanna most likely wasn't dutiful (running away with Rhaegar rather then Robert) while Ned was highly dutiful. And so forth.
