TheBadboy
The 4th season is going to go deeper into the DwD and AFFC that they will dwell into Bran's plot,he mostly reaches the cave in the fourth episode and meets BR ( fourth episode description clearly points it out). Also it's rumored that the Titan of Bravos will make an appearance in the 8th episode. And they are moving forward with Theon and Ramsay plots from the last two books. And it's clear from trailers that LF has already started training Sansa, something that happens in Feast. And then there is Dany, the whole Meereen and Harpy plot to take place in the second half of the season all of which isn't really a part of SoS.And Natalie Dormer recently said that Cersei and Margaery will start the bitch war this season. So with all this it can be safely assumed that both Dance and Feast are one season, as they can't keep two seasons of Sansa learning her game with LF, or Dany dragging the tiring Meereenese knot (what would be left) for more that 10 episodes.Same goes for Arya and Bran training.GRRM's UK publisher tweeted(Jane Johnson) in January that WoW is certainly not this year.So even the remotest early estimate would be next spring or summer, and that is being toooo optimistic too.So at this rate the show will definitely spoil the books, and it may happen sooner or later, and Bran's plot may get spoilt next season only. HBO certainly won't go on an haitus. And neither would they stop everything that is happening to do a Robert's Rebellion season. It's there Magnum opus, they won't take such stupid chances. And think how much more publicity they will get by doing "completely never heard or seen before ". Worst GRRM may get lazy and go the Godfather approach. When will winter come so that I can dream of a spring? :)

Rhaegars Heir
very wrong sensa still has a way to go till her lessons with of in eyrie and there's simply to much in feast and dance them to be one season more than likely season5 will be the first half of each together and with asl the battles set to take place in TWoW it'll most likely be 2 seasons for budget reason I heard somewhere they had to spend more than half their budget on the battle of black water and that didn't have dragons and fire or a lake of ice
TheBadboy
Godfather approach - Ignoring novels and writing the screenplay instead. And if that happens it can gi either way. Godfather 2 was not based on novel like it's predecessor but it went on to win the Oscar and was even better than the original. Godfather 3 wasn't So it might go either way.Though if that happens HBO might pull it off too.

Stannis Eats No Peaches
there's simply to much in feast and dance them to be one seasonNo there really isn't. D&D simply can't afford to spend two seasons spudding around with Feast and Dance because significant parts of both are just filler.

Some thoughts: 1. Nothing we've seen from Littlefinger in the trailers is anything that didn't happen in Storm. In fact, his quote from the newest trailer is directly lifted from the third book when Sansa gets on the boat with him. 2. The Titan of Braavos may be making an appearance in Stannis' storyline rather than Arya's. It's confirmed that he's going there to meet with the Iron Bank. If that's the case, it will certainly be earlier than episode eight since he has somewhere to be in episode nine. 3. I think it's more likely that Feast and Dance will be about a season and a half, with the major events from the early portions of Winds happening in the back half of season six. The only person that knows, or has a good idea at least, of when the book will be done is GRRM. I doubt he is that open about his progress even with the publishers. A Dance with Dragons came out July, 2011. July 2015 will be a full 4 years for GRRM to write the book. I don't see how that is too optimistic. I know the last two took 5 and 6 years, but most of that was due to the Meerenese Knot he tied himself into. Getting past that has certainly helped, and along with the pressure the show is putting on him to get these things out I would say Summer 2015 is right on the money. There is easily enough content in Feast and Dance to do season 5, even if they're already using some of it. For example, they can flesh out Aegon and give us more insight to his past and his trip to Westeros. If they can pull of season 5 and the book comes out Summer 2015, I think that's enough time for the show producers to catch up and start adding elements from TWOW into season 6. MegaAIP
if winds is not in late 2014 it has to be early 2015 the frustration is we have gotten no hard updates in years it seems. if the show over takes the books as far as I am view it, it's ruined

Ser Creighton
Season 4 will have parts of books 3, 4, and 5. The reason being is they are keeping the timeline together. Crows and Dance took place in the same timeline. Both books had a lot of fat that could be trimmed off if the timeline is kept together. Martin had to split the books because he had so many POV's, but the series has no plans of doing that. So you will get like 1 1/2 seasons or more of the end of Swords, Crows and Dance. There has been word of an HBO movie as well to finish the series. Most of this is because of contracts, it's hard to get past 7 seasons because actors want to do other things and the kids are aging much faster on the show than in the books, though this actually works out better for the show. With Crows and Dance Martin sort of extended some plot lines that he really didn't need to. He was basically using the book to get his ducks in a row. So you got characters like Bran who had like 3 chapters and suddenly their story stopped mid book and characters like Dany who had a lot of chapters. All the story lines sort of ended where he needed them to be. You saw the same thing in crows with characters like Sansa, not many chapters. The show doesn't have to drag out Meereen to age up the dragons. Which people sometimes forget was one of the main reasons Martin wanted to do a time skip.So the show will pass the series, not much can be done about it. Even if Winds comes out before season 6 and it would have to be way before season 6 to get it filmed and scripted, Spring has no shot of beating season 7. Not going to happen. DeepBlueSky
My only concern is that GRRM will let the show influence the books in some way. Whether it be the show rushing him or the show's change/ignorance of some plot elements mean that GRRM will change/ignore some things in the later books to better fit the show or not to deviate from the show too much. I really don't think he would. He's said that the books are his baby and that the show is D&D's, and that he doesn't write to make other people happy. Molding the remaining books to suit the show seems like a contradiction to both, though I imagine there will be the occasional minor change inspired by the show, like Osha's increased significance. aryagonnakill#2
I agree, it seems the best we can hope for at this point is to get the 6th book before the 6th season, but that the show will definitely end before the books do. We will all have to skip the last season of the show.
Don Roberto
Well, nothing new really. The first trailer showed Hazzea, so we already knew Dany's plot would overlap ADWD a bit. Same with Theon, we already saw him carrying a white flag in what is clearly the Moat Cailin episode. And it's a given that Bran's arc would overlap with ADWD, since he pretty much dissapears by the middle of ASOS. The only real "news" was the appearance of the titan of Braavos, indicating Arya's storyline will more forward a bit. But we don't know how forward, might be she getting to Braavos will be the very last scene we see of her (the 3rd season trailer showed Asha rallying up the ironborn, and that only happened in the 10th episode). Also, we already knew the producers wouldn't stretch the series any further than necessary. It's very likely we'll start seeing spoilers for TWOW by the 5th season, and the 6th season will be almost entirely new material. That the show will spoil ADOS is a given, might as well make your peace with that.
