Animist
Nothing is better than binge watching good TV shows IMO. It will make bad TV shows watchable and good TV shows incredible. You don't need to wait a week between all your episodes so everything from the last episode is still 100% fresh in your mind. So, I'm conflicted on whether I want to save up all the episodes and binge watch them at the end of season 4 or let impatience get the best of me and watch them as they come. Anyone else going to save them up?
Animist
Any thoughts on this? I'm still not decided.
protar
I'm most certainly letting my impatience getting the better of me. Waiting another 10 weeks and swearing off of this place? "Shudders"
iknownothingjonsnow
My answer: it depends. If Season 4 is anywhere near as poorly paced as the start of Season 3 (and to a lesser degree Season 2) then waiting until the end and binge-watching is definitely the way to go. Based on the episode titles and synopses, I'm optimistic that Season 4 will get away from the 'soap opera' production approach (90 seconds of 2 people talking in one place, smash cut to 90 seconds of 2 people talking in another, smash cut to a 3rd setting...) and we'll get back to having actual self-contained episodes which hold up on their own. If I'm right then watching week-to-week should be enjoyable. Fingers crossed...
iheartseverus
For me, anyway, I absolutely have to watch every episode the very second its available. But, I too, love binge-watching, and have happily sat back and rewatched several entire series hour after hour, like Prison Break, Lie To Me and the Walking Dead. GoT is certainly on that list, too--perfect for a rewatch binge!
ebevan91
There's no way I could do it. After waiting nearly 10 months it is finally here. I can't wait another 2 months while mostly everyone else is watching and talking about the show.
Nicomo Cosca
Well I've already mentally prepared myself to wait until the whole season is out to binge watch the entire thing! So yeah, I'll probably watch it some time in June/July and in the meanwhile I'll binge watch other tv shows I held up in case I'm tempted (Black Sails, True Detective, The Walking Dead Season 4.2 and Vikings Season 2)
Khal-a-bunga
Do both? I tend to watch weekly, and then shortly after the season has wrapped up, watch the whole thing in quick succession.
Animist
Do both? I tend to watch weekly, and then shortly after the season has wrapped up, watch the whole thing in quick succession. Maybe doable since it's only 10 episodes a season. But then I usually like to watch the season right before the next season starts so I'd watch it again before Season 5. I'm not usually one to rewatch tv shows like that many times. I'll prob watch them as they come for S4 but I just hate not having a perfect memory from episode to episode. Binge watching is so much more enthralling. I guess now that I've read all the books recently it's not such a big deal either way. I just hope I remember all of DWD when i read WoW. Zombies That Were Promised
I like to read people's thoughts as the episodes air, because they tend to offer a lot of thematic or symbolic insight I missed. If I waited to binge watch it and came back to the forum, I'd just not bother for feeling overwhelmed. Kinda miss being completely Unsullied quickly marathoning S1, being really frustrated by no conclusion and not having any idea where the show was going to go or that there was even going to be another season. (memories of Starz's Camelot, zz) Luckily, season 2 premiered a week later.

If you have the will power to wait until June to start watching the show, then I give you props. I wouldn't have a hope of doing that. It's killing me having to wait another five days to be honest. Yeah, I like to watch the previous season right before the new season starts as well. I think me and my unsullied friend are going to binge watch the first three seasons over the next few days, before season four starts. Should be fun. Waylin Stark
PROS: Everything you just said, it's really fun, everything is fresh in your mind, and you don't have to wait.Recently I binge watched Arrow (ok but fun), Arrested Development (really funny), True Detective (awesome), Sons of Anarchy (6 whole seasons - really epic!) CONS: Having to wait 3 more months, it'll get over in a couple of days and you'll have to wait for a year, you can't discuss, your friends watch and you feel left out, not being able to resist, etc. I watched Season 1 and 2 during the weekly airings, but for season 3 I watched the first 3 episodes, before deciding to marathon the rest, and the WAIT WAS WORTH IT. MY DECISION: Watch the 1st and 2nd episode back-to-back after the premiere of the 2nd ep, then binge watch all 10 episodes on the day of the finale. This is because I'm really looking for S04E02 "The Lion and the Rose", which contains a huge event. Plus, my thirst to watch GoT will be quenched for a few weeks. Luckily, most of my friends also binge watch, so it's cool. And I've read the books, so no problems of people spoiling it for me.However, I will have to stay away from the TV section Forum for a while and not participate in discussion. But most of the time it's a bunch of purists bitching about change, so it's fine. Then I'll marathon it again before season 5.

Winnief
Since I don't get HBO, but do it when itunes comes out, Binge watching will be almost inevitable in my case. You can't just stop with one...
Hagen of Tronje
Binge watching is great, but there's no way I could wait until June to watch season 4. Plus, more time to discuss single episodes and speculate about the next one. It's part of the fun.

Khal-a-bunga
Yeah, I usually like to re-watch the show before a new season airs (or, at least, that's what I've done for the past two seasons), but since just about everyone I know watches the show by this point, I feel a lot less of an impetus to do so. The other times I re-watched, it was with people who hadn't yet seen the show, which made the experience a lot more fun. As for binge-watching, as a whole: I prefer the weekly wait, for the most part. Television has a distinct advantage over movies in that a community builds up around discussing, analyzing, arguing, etc. the series, which is a large part of the enjoyment for me. And the way I see it, binge-watching is always possible after the season has wrapped up, whether I followed along week-to-week or not.
Koi No Yokan
I was looking at the WiC countdown the other day when it hit 7 days. Even then I thought it was too long of a wait! So no, I need to watch the episodes as soon as they air (which will be around 2 or 3pm here). But I love binge-watching TV series, especially GoT. I recently just re-watched all three seasons on Blu Ray across a few weeks, and I enjoyed it immensely! As others have said though; the weekly release has the advantage of giving the community a chance to be able to analyse, discuss and predict scenes and future episodes - which for me, is all part of the fun! KalibakCruel
I do both. It's hard to hold off watching week to week, especially when all my friends are into it. But I do binge watch at the end too.
