Sony’s PlayStation video game console is the latest digital platform to enter the original programming space. Its first show will be hourlong drama Powers , based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. The series will be produced by PlayStation sibling Sony Pictures TV, where the project had been gestating for awhile and went through several incarnation at FX, including a pilot.

Powers for PlayStation represents a brand new take on the source material, penned by Charlie Huston

I've never read the comic series (why is it suddenly a "graphic novel?") but both police prodedural and superhero stuff now seem a bit old so I can't get very excited about it.

"Graphic novel" is the standard polite term for "comic" when trying to convince non comic people to take you seriously.

I'm a big fan of Powers, especially the early stuff. But this means what? I need to have a PlayStation to see it? I don't own one and I'm certainly not going to buy one just to see a show.

It's possible this might be available through Playstation Now, which will be a subscription service available on various devices including smartphones and some smart TVs.

First glance makes me unsure if the actress playing Deena has the necessary wildness/attitude for the character, but we only see a few seconds so hopefully she turns out fine.

For the rest of it, looks good and I'm surprised they've got such a big cast for such an experimental project (presumably it'll be available on something other than PSN eventually, right?), they've got to cost a bit of money. That's a new look for Eddie Izzard...

No doubt it'll be on primewire and project freeTV about 1 hour after each show airs. But in terms of on regular TV has House of Cards ever played on syndicated TV or has it stayed firmly on Netflix.
