AnotherCrannogman
Remember how the name Arya trended in the United states and became a top ten name after season one? Will those folks regret it when they know she is an assassin?
King Behind The Wall
Remember how the name Arya trended in the United states and became a top ten name after season one? Will those folks regret it when they know she is an assassin? Hell NO! Incidentally I am looking forward to becoming a father later this month. I regret the fact that my cousin named his daughter Arya (that was not related to the show) so the name is already taken in the family. An assassin as a daughter would be so so aaaaaaaaawesome
P. frontalis chiripepe
It was never even close to a top 10 name in the U.S. Although it did make it in the top 100 in the U.K. However, I wouldn't regret it. I like the name, and although she may be an assassin, she's still a good person within the confines of the rules of her world.
Lady Fevre Dream
I would absolutely not regret naming a girl Arya, it's a beautiful name. Plus, assassin or not, I love the character but she's also made me love the name itself, irregardless of the storyline. I did name my daughter after a book character, and well.......I fell out of love with that character but not the name, LOL
.Nymeria
We named our daughter Aria early last year, before becoming ASOIAF fanatics and watching the show. We picked it more for its musical ties than anything else (hence the different spelling), but more than anything people reference GoT when they hear her name. So far, no regrets. Arya is still one of the good ones, assasin or no. As an aside, after reading the books I do find it interesting that in Hebrew the name has ties to the lion :)
Daemon Stark
Lol, if some people could regret naming their girl Arya because she becomes an assassin then i wonder what the people who named their girl Khaleesi will do when they will see Daenerys become Aerys the 4th ( Joffrey being the 3rd. )
Rhaquentis
No way, it's too cool of a name. I only wish it worked in my country :|
Northbound2.0
Simple answer. HELL to the no! First and foremost, it is a lovely, beautiful name. Despite, whatever dark path she goes down; Arya is one hell of strong young lady and I still adore her. I'm still a few years away from fatherhood. But when the day comes and if I have a daughter, I'm going to fight my wife tooth and nail to name her Arya. Or Sansa, for that matter. Love both those names. Shit, I've actually been thinking of middle names to go with them both. Sansa is a bit challenging. But for Arya, I'm going with Arya Michelle
Patchfaith
I'd be more worried for the girls named "Khaleesi", for a number of reasons. First post, hello everybody

aussiegirl
I don't have any children, and if I did, I probably wouldn't name them after a tv or book character. But Arya is a beautiful name. And an awesome character no matter what. I find it funny that most people don't judge the character of Jaqen (who is actually an assassin) the same way. But back to names, I am guilty of sometimes referring to my cat as 'little lord' even though that's not his actual name.
aFeastForDragons
Arya is a really cool name. I'd be more worried for the girls named "Khaleesi", for a number of reasons. Calling your child Khaleesi is sick. I'm sure anyone who did it doesn't know the meaning behind it and what kind of people the Dothraki are. So essentially you just got named the queen of nomadic warriors who rape, pillage and kill every man, woman & child in their path. Delightful. averde
No. If your going to name your child after someone in GoT atleast she has a nice short easily spellable name
Harry Lime
At least it actually sounds like a real-world name and belongs to a good character. It's the people who named their kids Theon who I worry about (although that news story came out at the beginning of season 2 I believe (?), so they've probably realized their mistake by now). Valor_Rorghulis
I think Cersei is a lovely name. Pity she's a complete bitch
Northernmonkey
I think Arya and Sansa are both lovely names, but the main reason you might regret naming them that is because it's going to be such a common name. Also, at what point do you let them watch this TV show full of gratuitous sex and violence?
binga
There are boys and girls named Aryan and Arya long before the show started. Aryan is an Indo-European name while Arya would be more strictly Indian.

Gronzag
It's a beautiful name, of a great character and it doesn't sound too weird in a real world. If i ever have a daughter i will seriously be thinking of naming her Arya, i really can't think of any better name right now
