Maybe. But one thing I liked about the show is they didn't go the cheap route of fat-shaming where Walda was concerned. In her one brief intro she seemed somehow very open and friendly-and Roose made it clear that Lady Bolton was to be afforded the respect her station deserved. She of course knew full well, that Bolton married her because she was fat, but hey at least she's out of the weasel nest that is the Twins, won't have to join the Silent Sisters, and she hopes to start a family with Roose and give him trueborn heirs to the Dreadfort. He in turn actually treats her pretty well and you never know...a lot of men actually find they prefer women who are....well cushioned.

Ironically, that Roose-Fat Walda is actually one of the better arranged marriages in the books-and it almost humanizes Roose. I'm hoping they'll keep that dynamic on the show which could be very entertaining and even somewhat sweet. And let's be honest we need some non-grim stuff to get through scenes at the Dreadfort.

I love all of the discussion so far but what I meant is given what we know about how silver coins convert to gold ones it could have been more than a couple sacks right?

Apparently 1 gold coin is 210 silver stags (according to the wiki)

How much does Walda weigh?

Also:

A single Gold Dragon converts to about 13,000 Euros, 17,222 US Dollars, or 11,111 Pounds Sterling. What the shit ?!

Btw: Walda + Ramsay was adorable.

Let make a lot of random assumption:

Walda = 100kg
1 siver coin = 16g (random number, real number is probably between 12g and 30g)

100 000 gr/16g/silver coin = 6250 silver coins

6250 silver / 210silver/gold = 30 gold coin

30 * 17,222 = Half a Million $US

Decent price.

Really? I thought it was one of most disgusting and insulting ones.

how dare you talk about the show that must not be named. Dont even say it in reference to the title of the first book. This thread should be locked immediately for the mere mention.

From Roose's point of view, marrying fat Walda makes a lot of sense: a highborn maiden, most likely very fertile, with a huge dowry. From Walder Frey's point of view, an alliance with one of the major Lords in the North, and getting rid of yet another Frey girl is well worth the silver. Plus, now, through their connection with Roose, Walder Frey has created many career opportunities for his many many many sons and grandsons. Lady Bolton's weight is irrelevant when you're playing dynastic poltics.
