Morning my lovelies

It looks like it premiered pretty strongly. 2.1 million viewers isn't bad so hopefully they will renew it. I had to watch both episodes twice to fully follow the storyline but I am very much enjoying it.

Someone is letting off fireworks next door. Easter fireworks? :o

I watched them twice too. :)

<comes in and does the happy dance> :smug:

Dad arrived just yet.

I don't know about Europe in general, all countries are different. Maybe Central European people, though I don't want to speak for other nations, let's just say Hungarian people aren't famous for their mobility. Here it's customary to buy house or an apartment and live there for the rest of your life. However, people are not affluent in the least, and thus it takes young people a very very long time (10-15 years from graduation) to be able to afford to buy or build their own homes where they'll stay for the rest of their lives. Due to this, young people are quite mobile, they move around a lot, to a dorm or to a rental flat with friend or alone, then to a rental flat with their boyfriends or girlfriends, or back to the parents' of the boyfriend or girlfriend, more rental flats, etc. Two generations ago, during the socialist era so often frowned up, average people could afford to build two houses or buy two apartments if they lived in a city. One for themselves, one for their children. The house my parents live in now was built by my grandfather, just like the house my aunt and her family lives in now was built by my other grandfather. My parents generation thus had a place to go when they got out of school and got married. Gen Y doesn't have that (in general), because their parents couldn't afford such anymore and so the relative mobility started with us.

Flats and apartments are very easy to find though, since the 2008 crisis real estate prices dropped significant, but accordingly people's budget dropped significantly too (so they are still unable to buy/sell apartments). So most young people live in rental flats now. Sociology/economy detour off. I'd not have a problem finding a place, I have moved twice already and the majority of my peers have done so, so it's also not a big deal. And I'm positive I could find a place I like better.

More sociological musing: The houses built during the socialist era are getting abandoned. The owners die and their children (Gen X) have their own homes, their grandchildren aren't likely to move to these houses because they need serious renovation which people can't afford. Currently my mother is having a hard time to decide what she wants to do with my grandmother's house. She's unable to take care of its maintenance on her own, because it's a lot of work and she doesn't want to rent it out because she's emotionally attached to it, obviously, and also convinced there'd be no demand. She doesn't want to sell it either, because she wants to move there when she retires/divorces my father. (Yeah, future plans of my mother: where will I live when I divorce my husband *sardonic laughter*) And many houses are left abandoned like that, owners die and their children can't sell the house/take care of its maintenance. Ironic enough while young people deal with not having a home (in the classical 'I own this place' meaning). Best would be if these young people could afford buying and renovating these old houses. But they can't. It always comes down to being cash-strapped. In fact it always comes down to that concerning anything in this country  Oh well, we love it the way it is. At least I do...

Hehe, I was relieved to hear this too :D

That's one sad and powerful movie.

Evening thread...!

Another glorious home-coming. Well, tonight's show lasted only 1,5 hours. I should start counting how many times the words whore, stupid, bastard, hate and fucking are used every time I come home and in a few months it'd make a statistics figure! I think that thesis left some serious damage on my brain... statistics figure... I'm a mental case. THOUGH. I'm the least of a mental case from the female members of my family, that much is beyond doubt now.

More sociology musings (don't ask where all the sociology's coming from tonight, oh wait, I think it was the class on Thursday, we discussed all these sociology related issues there). HOW the hell did my sister become this thing she is? Did my parents screw it up this much? Is it merely genetics? Is it school? Probably a combination of all those things. Scratch that. Definitely the combination of all those things. Having answered my own question I believe I will spare you guys the rest of my controversial How school contributed to my sister being a little animal musing.

I think I have toothache. That'll be my last wisdom tooth coming out. Hopefully that'll finally make me wise. Would be high time. I was going to say something else, but I can't remember. Never mind. Do you guys celebrate Easter? And how?

Koba, what did you decide concerning the dress? Did you get a new one? And I also wanted to ask if we could see your dress? Just on a hanger or a link if there's a pic on the internet, maybe? Only if you feel comfortable :)

Thanks for the explanation.

I would say based on this it comes down to reading your father's emotions and how willing you you are to risk hurting them. But you knew that.

Separate question. Can your mother not rent out your grandmother's house till she needs it? The income could be used to pay for property tax & maintenance.

Speaking of sociology - I want to go back to college for a sociology masters degree. I'll study the spam and why it's so slow and soon after, so fast. You know what effects it - value of the Euro, phase of the moon, price of tea in China - that sort of thing. :P

kidding of course.

Hope your tooth pain goes away soon.

Happy Easter folks!

I'm soon off to Easter dinner, with family. I love this holiday! It's beautiful warm weather, but I've spent the day cleaning and sleeping late in the morning. Tomorrow or this evening I'll go out for a long walk in the woods and just enjoy nature coming back to life.

As for the apartment, my aunt's family has held the same apartment (she died, her daughter has it now) since I was little. Here in America we change apartments, & houses all the time - there's even a thing called "flipping houses" where you buy a place that needs some tlc (tender loving care - fixing things, brightening, improving) work on it for a month or two, then sell it right away at a profit. Apartments and houses are easy to find in most places in America.

In Europe that's not really true is it? It would be kind of a big deal for you to let go of this apartment wouldn't it? I understand how it can suck to be in a place that doesn't fit you, but are you sure you can find something you will like better?

...

I wish I could do more to help. You can certainly pm me any time. :grouphug:

Thank you, HC :grouphug: I'm really doing ok, most of the time.

It's quite common to move around a lot here, also this 'flipping' you mentioned. People buy a place, as it is newly built, for example, to make money selling it soon after when the prices normally go up a little bit, or buy an old house or apartment and remake it to high standard and sell.

I could do that with my apartment, since it was cheap and SO and I fixed it up (the bathroom is left though), but I like living here, and you can't get another place this size for that money in the area. So I stay, for now at least. If I ever need to free some cash, I could sell, and move someplace smaller.

My parents have lived in their house for 32 years, and don't seem to have any plans moving. They would make a lot from selling it, but they are rooted there. A lot of people appreciate a steady home, instead of money, actually.

Eyron, you are such a beauty in so many ways. Don't give up on humanity, we aren't all horrible :) Being vulnerable is extremely difficult. I haven't mastered it yet. I'm still working on not caring about people's opinions and just doing my thang. I'm almost there. Almost earned my honey badger badge. :D But I don't have anyone to tell my worries or pains to. And I have loads of them. I think an empty marriage is more lonesome than being single ever was. I don't really know what I'm trying to say here, just that you aren't alone and it is pretty normal. And I am as eloquent as a squirrel with stuffed cheeks :(

Aw :grouphug: you are so kind, Lady O. I think we are a lot alike, and I'm also learning to not care so much about others opinions. I am quite good at it, but I think it has cost me some. I'm really sorry you are in that spot with your marriage, but I know you are a fighter and whatever happens you will come out strong. You are perfectly eloquent, to me :D

I never give up on humanity, I just can't become close to anyone from lack of trust. I always expect to be hurt, and I don't expect to rely on anyone. I still take a shot at friendship sometimes. I like people with all of their flaws, really.

In the name of Easter I have changed my icon to a påskkärring (She's a witch flying to Blåkulla to copulate with the Devil)

The true heathen spirit

I'll add to the morning music

*dances*

It's beautiful outside. And I'm having a great day - with coffee.

I love Dad!!!! I haven't gotten any of the new Funkos :crying: but we are on a budget and I can't cheat so my collection is left wanting.

I am, however, going to beg and plead with my sister and the other boarders to pick up whatever GoT Funko exclusives there might be at LonCon!

On a weird dream note: woke up in the middle of dreaming that I was looking at a carved stone where heads were chopped off. Next to it was this giant marble looking block with slats in it (looked like a marble cutlery block) and I realized it was where all the Valyrian house swords were kept. I got so excited because I thought "I can figure out how to get ICE out and give it back to one of the Stark children!" - that's when I woke up. :lmao:

I dunno what my brain was up to but it was fun to watch :)

Hello, my lady Olenna.

I was just happy to get him at a relative small price (9,99€). I still need the other guys.

Maybe order two Neds and give one to my best buddy.

Exclusives would also be great.

Too bad, I don't dream anything GoT-related at the moment. But your dream sounds funny.

Ya , real estate is rather turbulent throughout Europe right now ...

also i understand the desire to keep old homes , my family's estate has been passed down since my great great great grandfather and to prevent it from getting liquefied upon my grandfather's death my father bought out his siblings shares . my family (the ones still not married with a family of their own) live there while i live in the apartment my parents lived in before my grandfather's death (that's why it's so big , it's meant to house a family of 6 , it has 6 bedrooms , way too much for one guy ) my father plans to sign the apartment over to me since i'm the only one who's still latched on (Annia is moving to France to live with my aunt , something about artistic inspiration :dunno: ) anyway , i dunno why i went on but there you go .

i'm so against every social norm that i don't bother thinking about it anymore unless it has direct results.

hmmm, i thought it was dumb outside of cinematography , all it did was make me shrug .

and you wonder why i worry so much ? anyway , i just wish you'd stop being so strong for a minute and Let me love you *hug* :grouphug:

i missed you.

i hope it passes smoothly (the toothache) i never had to go to the dentist except for checkups , always excellent :smug: a shame i don't really smile .

nope , don't celebrate Easter , anyway best of everything to the spammies who do .

hello spammies :grouphug:

I had a bad dream , the old bad dream (i think i shared it here a long time ago but i spoilered it and then deleted it because it's that sick) i haven't had it in months , i thought i was free but i guess not .

Ms.potatO is getting better , she no longer doesn't wanna see me , thanks for the advice Rhae and Gillio .

this really is a weird talent , the lonelier i am the better my music is >.<

since it is easter and for some reason my neighbors gave me a basket of eggs (how nice of them , they really are nice but i guess they couldn't be worse than those balcony people ) i'm thinking about going egg shooting but i dunno if it's worth the drive to the outskirts .

a question : i'm receiving an award for some work i did last year and the ceremony is in a few days , i really don't want to go , is it too rude to refuse ?

i've lost weight >.< 2 kilos to be exact

now i'm just dragging , have a great day people.

Yeah thanks my toothache passed.

It's nice of those neighbors :) Giving you the easter basket. Sorry about your dream though. As for MspotatO, I told you so :)

Good evening guys. Congrats to Nero for the win, I like the Danish theme, though I was expecting some anime based theme tbh. :)

I had a little accident yesterday. :( A hit and run. as I was returning home from work. A bike being ridden by a drunk guy hit me, and he and his friend just rode on. It was around 10 30 at night and the road was deserted so they never looked back to see if I was dead or not. I wish there were people around, I would've enjoyed a nice beating of those scoundrels. I wasn't hurt that bad tbh, many scrapes all over and three cliche wounds - on the knee, on the elbow and on my hand. :( They ruined my long weekend, I'm going to learn voodoo now, and trace them and make them pay for it.

A good news also came in yesterday though, an email from my manager. It was a completely informal letter of appreciation from her, which was welcome, she is really impressed by my work in the past six months. Also they gave me a pay raise (yayy!! :commie: ). Then got a mail from my senior manager too, that was something nice. Didn't feel like telling them I am bedridden. I hope I'll be fine by tomorrow. :(

I hope all of you are well, yes? Have a good weekend. :grouphug:

AK: Apparently I'm the only hardcore anime fan around here, so that would be unfair :P

Watched Noah at the cinema with my family this evening - was way better than I expected.
