It's 500AL. How will the current events and people go down in history?

Stormland's Fury

Recommended Posts

Will they tell the tragic (albeit highly romanticized) tale of the Young Wolf?

Will the deeds of people like Stannis or Brienne even mentioned at all as they work more in the background?

Dany's tale for example will probably depend on who actually wins at the end.

I was more thinking in the terms of how they mystify and idealize some historic events and characters within the story.

Like we don't exactly what actually really happened when Orys took Storm's End as history is written by the winners or what Harren the Black exactly did to earn him his reputation.

It depends on how the story ends up of course.

But I like this topic, so here's a few guesses

-Tywin will go down as one you didn't fuck with. Tales will be told of the Rains of Castamere (hell, it already is) but I can see Tywin being glorified and hated, depending on where in Westeros you are.

-Robb will live as a legend, being more remembered as a myth than his actual deeds

-Stannis will probably go down as some dark sorcerer, and be known mainly for his connection with Melisandre. There will always be tell as to if he killed his brother with magic, or what else he did with magic

-Bob will be remembered as the guy who overthrew the Targaryens, not as the guy who became a fat, wife beating alcoholic

-Walder Frey will replace the Rat Cook in stories about why you never break guest right

-Renly will be used as a lesson about why you must always take war seriously

After the tragic death of good king Robert, the traitorous lord Edward stark attempted to seize the throne for himself, having tricked king Robert into making him hand. He failed and we taken, but not before he had sent assassins under a royal seal to murder loyal banner em of lord Tywin. Lord stark had ordered a mobilisation and fortification of the north shortly before his arrest, and his son robb launched an armed invasion of the riverlands... Tormented by his conscience lord Edward confessed and was put to death, though kind Joffrey awarded clemency to lady Sansa, who repaid this kindness by ,murdering Joffrey at his wedding in revenge for having been set aside in favour of Margery Tyrell...

It is the year 500 AL, the Bloody Reformation is over.

-Tywin will go down as the cautionary tale of how you must temper your ruthlessness with kindness and what not.

-Robb Stark will go down with the same reputation as Napoleon Bonaparte, a guy who was by all accounts a military genius who just didn't know when to fold 'em.

-Robert Baratheon will be remember as they guy who killed Rhaegar, destroyed the Targaryen and took the throne.

-Renly Baratheon will be remembered as an ambitious usurper and the 'gay king lol'.

-Stannis Baratheon will be the guy that was broken but came back from the brink against miraculous odds and took the throne back and forever set the Baratheons as the dominant House of Westeros, kick-starting the move towards Absolute Monarchy and introducing a new religion.

History is written by the winner.

And only that decides if Robb is the tragic Young Wolf or or a murderer who found his just end.

You could say the same to all characters.

Yes it's written by the winners.

But a lot of historic people in-universe did get their own songs and legends, regardless of their political affiliations.

And even then, figures like Robert or Tywin pretty much have put their stamp on history. Even in a Targ kingdom they will talk about Robert's brute strength or Tywin's cunning, just like they talked about Lann the Clever or Argilac the Arrogant.

You are confusing political propaganda with myths and legends.

The world ends in 303 in the catastrophe known as the Mereneese double knot when Dany gets lost in Mereen yet again and Martin just gives up writing.

:lmao:

Some more

-Balon will be remembered as the Twice-Crowned, who fought for Ironborn freedom. He will be revered by the IB, hated by all else. The more pious will believe he was such a great man it took the Storm God to bring him down.

-Theon will probably be universally despised. He'll be called a traitor to the Northmen, and a weakling by the IB.

-Gregor will forever be seen as a brutish monster. Children will be told scary stories about if they misbehave, Gregor Clegane will come for them

-Beric will be a folk hero, one who aided the smallfolk, and hung both the wolf and the lion to do so. He'll be known for living seven lives (though most will chalk that up to legend)

Renly might end up as a sleeping hero figure, like King Arthur. Robb, Robert, and/or Joffrey will probably end up in a similar role for the south and the north, respectively, with people in the future talking about how things would have been so much better if they had reigned for longer.

Yes, I like this.

This was what I had in mind when creating this topic.

Aegon the restorer

Robb becomes a folk hero

Jon a reformer of NW.

LS is remembered as demon who hunts oath breakers in the riverlands.

Dany is made into the Sauron of her time by chroniclers and Maesters, because at face value, that is what she is.

The GC mostly become the backbone of the westerosi professional army.

I don't know what the hell is going to happen, I am just reading my book.

The Red Wedding will probably be a song or an Old Nan story (she's still alive). Tywin and Lannisters in general will be reviled in the North, Riverlands, Dorne, and maybe other places. The Young Wolf will probably go somewhere along the lines of Daeron the Young Dragon with young boys idolizing him and adults using it as a cautionary tale if the North never gets independence or as a heroic tale of Northern pride if they do. The Mountain might be something along the lines of the boogey man, especially if it's revealed that Robert Strong is actually undead Gregor Clegane. If Dany wins she'll be the Mother of Dragons, the Beautiful Dragon Queen, Aegon the Conqueror with teats...if she loses well probably an evil dragon woman who took her revenge on the realm because they cast aside her mad father, she probably ate babies too. If Jon does end up saving the realm he could also be another Northern folk hero, brother of the Young Wolf, slayer of the Others, akin to the Last Hero.

Ned will be remembered as a good and just lord who raised his sons and daughters to be fighters and survivors. He'll forever be loved in the North.

Robb will be a legend, betrayed because he fell in love.

Jon will be a hero in the same catagory as Robb, the brother of the young wolf who painfully accepted his death to instead face the greater evil.

Tyrion, kingslayer, kinslayer.

Tywin, ruthless power hungry lord hated by all, whose empire fell apart immediately following his death.

Cersei, mother of the bastard king Joffrey. Inept ruler who brought the entire kingdom to war. Incest eill feature prominently in the story.

Jamie, famous kingsguard knight. Kingslayer.

Brienne...forgotten.

Stannis, Renly, Balon, Kings vying for the iron throne but their stories will lack details, facts, and depth.

The West will likely still love Tywin, and view him as a model of success. However, I agree in saying the rest of Westeros will hate him.

It all depends on who holds the throne. If its the Targaryens or Baratheons the current situation will be fairly politically charged while its is some other Houses it will be like the Blackfyre for the Baratheons; interesting history but of little political importance.
