JTS
Similar to my previous forum http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/107410-tyrells-vs-lannisters/#entry5638409 it compares the two westerosi houses in a head to head battle. This time it's the two houses on the two ends of the continent the Starks, and the Martells. COmpare the strengths and weaknesses of each house to find out who would win. Ingelheim
Stark army is larger, and in this case, the weather plays a key factor: I'm pretty sure a Northman would die in Dorne (so hot), and the other way around...A Dornishman would have such a hard time in the cold North. In some random field in the Reach or Riverlands, the Northmen have the advantage due to having more men and more wealth. In Dorne, the Dornish for sure. In the North, the Northmen for sure. LROSyke
I think the weather and terrain would play a big factor. Which castle would be harder to take? Winterfell or Sunspear?
Wmarshal
Martells. Most if the Stark veteran soldiers died.
khalhotpie
seems like an odd matchup.....like both sides would have to send forces a long way and neither is known for their naval power If they take the land route the north cant be taken from the south (or at least not without horrific casulties getting through moat cailin) and likewise attacking dorneNorthmens reaction to dornes baking sun may be as extreme as the dornish reacting to the cold northbut overall if they are 100% set on doing this id give the starks the adv due to the norths numbers and its timber as that could allow them to build the sort of fleet they will need. l2 0 5 5
I thought the Dornish commanded more men than the North? This is a rough one. I suppose it depends who is invading whom. They both have their solid points of defense towards the beginning of their territory. The North has Moat Cailin, and the Dornish have The Boneway and the Prince's Pass. Both seem hard to penetrate. Neither have a navy to boast of. I see the North being more headstrong, and attempting to invade Dorne; so I'll go with the Dornish winning this battle. l2 0 5 5
Dorne is the least populous of the Seven Kingdoms. I must have taken Quentyn too literal then when he said Dorne was 50,000 spears or something along those lines.
averde
Starks. They have more troops, resources, etc. Sunspear is located on the sea so the Starks could bring their entire army right to Dornes capital to lay siege instead of marching through the desert where as Winterfell is landlocked in the middle of the North, which is a larger region anyway.I like Dorne and the Martells more but there's just no way they'd win this one.
