American Horror Story: Freak Show - Send in the Clowns!

Of course American Horror Story: Freak Show will have scary clowns and bearded ladies

They actually think they can make a scarier clown than the one in IT? They got their work cut for them to make a scarier clown than the one in this cereal commerical...

Going into the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Freak Show, there are some things you just know you can count on: a thoughtful, respectful treatment of fully-fleshed out characters, whose behaviors have recognizable grounding and real-world consequences; and a scary clown. Now Entertainment Weekly confirms you can definitely expect at least one of those things, with creator Ryan Murphy, in explaining how the fourth season will most closely resemble the “terrifyingly dark” tone of Asylum, says, “Look, if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it’s going to be dark.”

And no, “Clown Killer” isn’t just a clever name. It’s a character Murphy brands as “the most terrifying clown ever!”—which is a lot to live up to, considering the scores of competitors. Though, perhaps Clown Killer has the edge, seeing as his name suggests he’s a killer of clowns, and that constant confusion probably only makes him angrier. “It’s a perfectly reasonable determinative compound!” he’ll shriek as he encounters yet another annoying pedant, then kills them with a chainsaw.

I am DOWN for this season. I need something to wash the taste of the last one out of my mouth.

Seriously, I really hope the writers took the hint from the bricks that were tossed their way for last season. Killer Klowns? This is something that looks promising!

What is it with this clownphobia? Scary clowns in Simpsons, scary clowns in It, people on the net saying that clowns creep them out etc. First I thought it has been coincidences, but... is it some anglo-american thing?!

Anyhow, the last season was a huge disappointment for me, but I'm hoping for the best. I'm curious how it will compare to Carnival, too.

I am sincerely convinced that most of the people who claim a fear of clowns are full of it, the result of hearing someone else claim it and deciding to adopt it.

I hate clowns. I have all my life. They don't terrify me or anything, it's not like I'll be a child's birthday party, see a clown and freak the fuck out. Nothing in the world can make me more uneasy just by being near me though. Not even just being near me, just a picture of a clown creeps me out. It's the uncanny valley aspect of it I think.

Doesn't matter if it's a happy clown, sad clown or purposely scary clown. I don't wanna see it, I don't want it near me.

I feel like clowns are freaky as hell, but I've actually never been physically near one so I don't know if I am *actually* afraid of them. But yeah, I think most people are scared of clowns in that clowns are freaky - but they don't have an actual phobia.

Exactly this.

 Couldn't agree more! Despite Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett, both actresses I really like, last season left much to be desired...

I think the fear of clowns, (and I don't like them, nor puppets, muppets and dolls), has to do with the suspicion of something not so funny hiding under a painted smile.

Thats one reason I don't care for Arya's "kindly man." :ack:

You might like this short film. (Muhaha )

Over here, I've never heard of anyone whom clowns would make nervous in this way and there's no reflection in popular culture either... at most people are afraid they will notice them and embarrass them. Interesting.

Here is one for you, (and probably the true source of my issues).

Hey Kissed!

Last season was probably the absolute weakest. It was clear the writers were completely winging it and I can't even really remember how it ended or who the Supreme ended up being.

You're not helping, you know?

You know I have issues.

You shouldn't have done that!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha       Or this; WTF is that. There's plenty of such stuff; many people must be really disturbed.

And then, of course, there is Chucky.

And Chucky has NOTHING on "Hugo, Man of a thousand faces."
