Charles snow Posted May 17, 2014 Share Posted May 17, 2014 So ive been reading a lot of threads about who HM is and Benjen constantly pops up only because we all want to know what happened to him and would love for him to play some part in the story later, but here is why i believe he cant be the HMHe's first ranger of the Nights Watch who takes his duties very serious, he's chooses his duty as a brother of the nights watch before his duties (if he ever had any) as a Stark, so that being said i he is indeed still alive he would'nt be south of the wall in Winterfell because Boltons showed up to take the place as their own, killing Bolton men to avenge what they did to Robb. Not to mention Theon would have recognized him and more than likely would have said it was Benjen. I believe that if he is still alive he is still north of the wall trying to find out exactly what is going on out there and gathering information to eventually get back to the wall to help against The Others.But then again, he could be simply dead, turned into a WW, or as some believe he may be Coldhands. GRRM might even decide to piss everyone off and never explain what happened.Anyways before posting this i had a bunch more evidence to back up my claim that i cant recall so sorry if its a bit off, but what do you guys think? He can't be Coldhands though because Leaf says of Coldhands "they killed him long ago." They would most likely be the Others, but long ago precludes Benjen because he didn't disappear long ago. He's only been missing for a few years. CotF have longer lifespans than people do so if Leaf says long ago, it has to be even longer than people would consider it to be. Yea I highly doubt that the hooded man is Benjen. But technically it is possible. Although I'd like to think he's been busy up north plotting some kind of defense and gathering intel.
