Anyone else agree with my theory?

Recommended Posts

I just started reading the first book in the series and I’m a few chapters in and I theorize Jon was actually Eddard Stark’s sister's child. Like when he found her in her bed all bloody, it because she had given birth, and when she made him promise, the promise was to not tell anyone Jon was her child……just guessing. The years match up though, because Lyanna dies about 14-15 years before the books begin....and Jon is 14 at the beginning of the series. Plus it would make more sense that Ned treats it like a touchy subject. Anyways.....just wanted to know if anyone agrees with me.

I agree with your theory. It’s kind of obvious to me even though I haven’t read all the books. I’m on the second one. In my opinion, there was only one woman in the world that Ned would have loved more than his wife in order to keep her secret until his dying breath. His sister Lyanna.

And being that the little boy was likely a Targaryen, why would Ned tell anyone who he was when Targaryen children were being slaughtered left, right and centre? He was an honourable man but wasn’t afraid to play the dishonourable part and taint his family name if he believed it were for the greater good. Even when it hurt him deeply.

He allowed his wife to think he had been dishonourable to protect his sister’s Targaryen son.

He allowed Westeros to think he had been dishonourable and had committed treason to protect his daughters. Sure he thought he was going to be sent to the Wall but when he was sentenced to death instead, he accepted whatever punishment came his way without a word of complaint; Punished by the very people who were committing treason with their dirty secrets – people claiming a throne that did not belong to them.

Of all my favourite characters, Ned will forever be my topmost. Some may say he died a fool’s death but to me, he died an honourable man.

NOOB checking in.

I'm in the middle of Book2 (CoK), but I've watched the first 3 seasons of GoT TV.

But I treat it more as a "re-read" because I've thoroughly research almost every character, event, timeline, and genealogy through GRRM's work thus far.

I'm on board with the R+L=J theory... and I saw the v.82 or v.83 thread earlier today - mercy, that would take a long time to get through.

Is there a quick way to find out who (among the sharp minds I've seen on this forum) might be on board with a R+L=J+__ theory.

Is there evidence within the books (that I missed) that R+L had only one child?

Why not two?

Or three?

Such a child would look either like a Stark or like a Targaryen.. so that limits the possibilities of who it could be.

Second, ask yourself this question: why would Ned take one child but leave the other? Why would anyone take one child ans leave the other? What good would that do them?

All evidence points to Jon beig that child.. there is no evidence pointing to there having been another child.

Sorry... just realized that this is not the right forum for this discussion.

For me, he had too much honor to father a bastard so this theory is quite good

Yes. Robert talks to Ned about Jon in AGoT and remarks that Jon's mother must have been quite wonderful if the honorable Lord Stark would fall for her. There are a lot of hints if you watch closely.

I'm just curious as to what new readers think of Tyrion's pale blonde hair and the fact that he has one green eye and one black.

I think Tyrion is the third Targ i.e. the third head of the dragon.

Secondly, I agree with this observation too. The decisive proof for me was the three white cloaks protecting the tower of Joy even though they should've gone off to protect Viserys and Dany. Why would they guard the tower when the royal family was in danger? The answer is that there was royal blood in the tower too, the heir to Rhaegar.
