Bran's Prayer in the Godswood (GoT)

Hello all. I am fairly new to the forum and am into my first reread, so sorry if this has been discussed at length. I'm near the end of GoT and found an interesting quote from Bran just before Robb marches south. He is praying in the Godswood:

"Please make it so Robb won't go away," he prayed sofly. He moved his hand through the cold water, sending ripples across the pool. "Please make him stay. Or if he has to go, bring him home safe, with mother and father and the girls. And make it... Make it so Rickon understands."

The first thing I noticed was the 'ripples across the pool' line right after asking the gods not to send Robb away. Robb marching south caused a cascade, or ripple, of events that lead to the demise of the Starks.

The second thing is that nothing in Bran's prayer comes to fruition. Robb leaves, Robb dies, Cat dies, Ned dies, and the girls don't (or haven't yet) come home safe. That leaves the last line with emphasis on Rickon. Now, this could just foreshadow the fact that Rickon the child doesn't understand why his family has deserted him. But I think it could be more than that. By not being able to comprehend his situation as a child and being influenced by a wildling, a wild direwolf, and cannibals, Rickon could turn out to be a very twisted character. Possibly savage. It will be interesting to see what his motives/MO will be when/if he comes back. Thoughts?

Every living/reborn Stark is, by the end of the fifth novel, on the verge of being very twisted. Rickon's danger is that he is so young that it is doubtful he will be able to understand much of anything by the time he returns. Its all down to Osha at this point really. What will her priorities be. Survival is the most important. Davos might be another influence. The only question is will he be a strong enough influence to counteract the wildness learned at such a young age with possibility of having such a strong dependence on Osha as the only person so far who hasn't abandoned him.

I am also new to the forum and am currently in the process of rereading GOT. What I find most interesting is that by now looking back on it (GOT) with what I have learned from the other volumes is how the original main characters are indeed still the main characters (Jon, Bran, Sansa, Arya, Tyrion and Dany). I remember how shocking it was when Eddard, Cat and Rob have died, but while I have been rereading it is clear who the series principal characters are from the beginning. Then there are the secondary and tertiary characters of whom some are still alive and important (Cersei, Davos, Theon, etc...) but may prove to dispensible by series end.

Also, I now get the sense that Bran's role in the big picture will be much more significant than what I thought after first reading the material years ago and watching the HBO series. For example, I had forgotten the dream where he was falling and the raven was speaking with him telling him to fly and after seeing beyond the curtain of light North he further explains "now you know why you must live". It is interesting how one of the first scenes was when Eddard brings Bran to witness the beheading of the fleeing nights watchman. It seems that from the beginning pages Jon is encouraging Bran to be strong and not look away and now they both are left with the responsibility to fight what winter will bring, that same thing that set that man running away to be beheaded they must confront head on (no pun intended).

My very first post, please forgive if these are repeats but a couple things I want to bounce off of you all.

Bran, he has learned that the heart tees have eyes and see in a non linear time line, or lack of. What they see lasts on. Ok, so if Bran can access these visions will he have the proof of Jon snow's parentage. Ned may have laid it out to his god asking for strength and guidance. Oh on second re read I am a firm believer in the Rheagar, Lyanna theory. I personally thing Rhaegar took her as a second wife. Not only is Jon Snow their child but legit child. Again, if this were done in front of a heart tree... Bran could, in theory, see

how Lyanna, being Stark, old gods, she would have reason to do that.

and on the topic of dragon riding. It seems to me a warg ability would help a lot, even if the warg cant control, s/he could make suggestion far easier, request of the dragon. On that, Arya is over in the semi general area, as the dragon flies
