You guys are no fun.

Even if this Brat guy was a convicted serial killer with Nazi sympathies, we should still celebrate the fall of Cantor. I wana dance a jig whenever one of these Establishment fucks get taken down, Democrat or Republican

The fact that he was beaten by a lowly professor with a strong libertarian streak just makes it extra sweet for me :cool4:

I really do loathe Cantor and I'm glad to see him gone, but yeah, I worry that it will make the right even more intransigent, which barely seems possible.

I'm completely happy over Cantor's with no misgivings because I don't think the right actually can become more intransigent. They're still not actually going to let the country default when it comes down to the wire, and they can't possibly obstruct anymore of Obama's agenda, so this is just hilarious misfortune falling on a smug right-wing douche.

I'm not sure about that.

^The thread title calls him Speaker. Unless it's some kind of joke I'm too dumb/tired to get?

I think its poking fun at Cantor. One of the reasons given for his losing in the article DG posted yesterday was that his campaign seemed to be aimed more at his running for Speaker than for his constituents and that rubbed some voters the wrong way.

The only reason I'm leery of Cantor's loss is that it might allow more dummies like Louie Gohmert into office:

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Tuesday repeatedly confronted a faith leader -- who also happens to be a noted church-state separatist -- about his Christian beliefs during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on religious freedom.

“Do you believe in sharing the good news that will keep people from going to hell, consistent with the Christian beliefs?” Gohmert asked Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director for Americans United for the Separation of Church and State.

Yep, that's right. Gohmert - possibly the stupidest man in Congress - used a House hearing to debate whether non-Christians go to hell. Exemplary use of government time and money.

And the fact that Brat is a strong Christian Reconstructionist who thinks a theocracy is a great idea?

It's nice Cantor's gone. It's not so nice as to what we're looking at in his stead.

Slate running an article about how, despite being an economics professor, Brat thinks modern economics thinking is bullshit.

I doubt we agree on the specifics, but I actually agree with him on this.
