Fancy Halloween jewellery, especially for lady N who will appreciate the snakes.

Very nice! I like that you see snake jewelry and think of me. That one piece with the teeth was a bit too scary I think!

A fun place to get costume jewelry is Butler & Wilson which is in London but they will ship overseas and not charge you the VAT if they do. They have some pieces that (while you can enjoy them year round) are especially perfect for this time of year...

You may not believe it, but I recently purchased my very FIRST down-filled puffer vest. Strange but true. I think I'm the only person around who has lived without these wonderful items in their wardrobe. It's a brilliant blue and I LOVE IT.

In fact, I want to get more of them. I'd like a (faux) fur one, and an apricot-colored one.

Someone stop me before I do serious harm to my bank account.

ETA: And because this post is nothing without pics...

Here's what I want in addition:

I always can't help thinking how cold people's arms must be with those things. I do have a long, hooded puffer coat because I don't like cold and it's quite warm.

The funny thing is that when the core of your body is warm, you feel warm all over. Except the head. You've got to cover your head too - that's where most of your body heat escapes from.

I tested it out today. It was blustery, damp, temps in the 40s-50s. I went for a long, fast walk with my dog, and I was actually TOO warm!

The vest is really light-weight too. I always have a problem with coats because they're too much material, if that makes sense.

I'd just like to clarify that's not true for everyone :p I feel cold intensely easily, and the "keep the core warm and the extremities will be fine" approach does NOT work for me. Rather if my extremities get too cold I lose heat from my entire body to the point I need an external heat source (food/coffee/hot shower/electric blanket/extended period in front of a heater) to bring it back up. If I let myself drop too cold in winter I cannot sleep without either the electric blanket or extended hot shower to bring me back up.

I can't sleep (insomnia) in rooms that are too cold, even with an electric blanket or lots of blankets. And my hands and feet are always cold, even in the summer my feet feel like ice, I've never tried a vest, but given how easily I get cold, I can't imagine it would work for me. I've been extremely cold wearing 4 layers of clothes (including silkies) with a long down-filled puffer coat, warm fake fur lined boots, 2 pairs of gloves, a hat and the hood and two warm scarves to cover my face and keep the coat closed still the neck and sunglasses as always, so I would have very little exposed and still feel like I was going to freeze to death. It was cold out, below freezing, but I'm not talking about Minnesota type weather, it stayed above 0. Last winter during the polar vortexes I rarely left my apartment. Tbh, I get the puffer coat out when the highs start going in the 40s, my wool coat for highs in the 50s/low 60s. I'm not made for winter.

Bloody Americans and your Fahrenheit, I was all "...below freezing is below 0!" until my brain caught up. I break out the wool coat at highs of 65 if not earlier, and when Sydney drops below 55 I am utterly freezing. I've got this massive heavy lined leather coat...give me 15-30 outside in it without strenuous exercise and my body will stop producing heat and it won't be keeping me warm, even though it's probably made for freezing temperatures (the coat is from Canada after all).

Did I forget to mention that when I'm walking my dog it's more like a run?

Actually, he takes ME for a run/walk. :P

That might have something to do with the fact that I'm wearing a vest in the icy cold and I break into a sweat.

My mom is a vest addict. She probably owns 75 vests. But she has accumulated them over the past 20 years. So don't break your bank account. Limit yourself to getting two a year and before you know it you will have all the colors in the rainbow and then some!

I'm wearing this pin today with a grey suit.

I've got matching skull earrings on as well. Perfect for corporate Halloween at the office!

Snake rings make everything that much better!

I don't own this snake ring...yet. I'm gambling and waiting to see if it goes on sale and if it does then I will get it:

So many cute things! (Love the jacket too, Brook!)

I've got a really pretty large spider brooch that I wear on and off beginning in October, but I really could wear it anytime. It's got a big pearl as the body and sapphire eyes and the legs are encrusted with crystals.

If I can get this job done I'm working on, I'll take a pic and post it.

ETA: I finally got my act together! Here's a pic (you get me too.)
