Just saw that on Wicnet, seems like the producers are bringing back Tom Wlashiha, who played Jaqen H'gar in season 2, for season 5. Possibly in the role of the Kindly Man.

EDIT: I have just seen that this is already being talked about in the casting for season 5 thread. should have looked first, no matter how excited I was ... sigh ...

No I think it's ok as a separate thread , the other comments on the other thread are kind of muted by the name of the thread.

I don't see how he can be the Kindly Man unless they completely change Arya's story, completely. Instead of being met with strangers....it will be her old friend and savior Jaqen...who is training her...that is a really big change from the novels

Or they can have another actor say a few lines while obscured in the shadows, reveal his (new) face, then have TW deliver a final "Valar Morghulis" in his own voice.

There are so many ways to handle a Faceless Man on film, I don't know why fans get so worked up about "losing" an actor. Like Arya in (presumably) S6 - just do what they did on Quantum Leap 25 years ago, and keep Maisie while showing another person's reflection when she gazes into a mirror.

Well, they may be looking to accelerate her training. One way for her to get to skip chopping veggies in the House of Black & White would be if Jaqen is her mentor, rather than a stranger.

Also might just be a strategic "we are already introducing way too many characters this season" and "we don't want any of our main characters on an island by themselves" (hence Varys going with Tyrion & Jaime with Bronn as well).

Yeah, it would be really strange though, because then there is no sense of alienation, also no sense of should I stay or should I go. Or, even the sense of loss she feels when she gets there and asks for him, and they pretend they don't know who she's talking about. I can see how it would work okay for TV but it really puts a stake in the heart of the novel story....

I agree, I have mixed feelings about it if he ends up replacing the Kindly Man.

But maybe he's a regular because he's busying killing Balon in episodes 1 & 2 and killing Pate in episodes 7&8 lol

I don't know, maybe someone else does, is there a set minimum of episodes that you need to be in the main cast? I guess they could have him kill Balon, then kill Pate and possibly move up whatever is the story at the Citadel...but logically, despite how illogical it is from an adaptation perspective, it seems more likely they're going to make him the kindly man...

Yeah, probably replacing Kindly Man, but it would actually be cool if we got some level of paralleling there, where we got to watch Arya's training while also getting to see what Arya is training for by seeing a Faceless Man in action, killing a lord/king and infiltrating the Citadel.

I am a book reader , we have seen people posting such like on this forum forever, I don't see it , all he has to do is tell Arya he is going to treat her differently now.

No big change, he does not have treat her as he did before.

Besides we never find out the Kindly Man's name , and he's more like THE STERN KINDLY MAN anyway.

I think this is exactly what's happening. The series has enough characters and viewers can barely keep up as it is.

Also, if he does end up playing the kindly man, I don't think he's going to be any nicer to her than his book counterpart.

That sounds too much like fan fiction to me. If they want Jaqen H'ghar to return so bad, they should bring back the guy they got to play Jaqen's different face in "Valar Morghulis" in S2 and have him kill Pate. At least that's what I would do.

Exactly this seems unbelievably sloppy to me. What is the point of saying "Jaqen is no more" and changing his face, if he is just going to reappear with the same face? I'm not understanding this at all.
