I hope they keep Aegon and Connington, but I'm not sure they will. I think they will keep Moqorro, he seems like he will be important further down the line.

Yezzan and maybe Nurse or a few from his wild collection of slaves.

Don't think Brown Ben Plumm will make the cut. I can easily see D&D just merging his character w/ Daario and have Tyrion join up w/ Daario at the end of season 5.

Yezzan

Brown Ben Plumm

Nurse

Sweets

Those I think will get outright deletion, I cannot say.

Those who will be combined to reduce casting but still show something of their function:

Inkpots / Kasporio / Brown Ben Plumm = Brown Ben, Second Sons' second in command, etc. - Basically, part of what one could call the Sellsword Problem. They already basically deleted the Stormcrows and just called them the Second Sons. At some point, the SS have to betray Dany, I perhaps this will be a season 5 thing where a breakaway group will perhaps take control of the Second Sons, or deliver Daario into the clutches of the Yunkai (because Dany already sent him to the Yunkai, and chained her dragons ?) I would love for there to also be other sellswords, such as the Tattered Prince (Windblown) and Bloodbeard (Company of the Cat), but I think this too will be reduced simply to avoid too much casting and audience confusion. I expect that at some point, there will be a great simplification of the sellsword situation, and a reduction of cast members to something like: 1 ) Daario loyalists, 2 ) Daario turncloaks, 3 ) evil other sellsword [bloodbeard], 4 ) Mysterious other sellsword [Tattered Prince]; 3 and 4 are not 100% necessary that we know of. If they create a rift in the Second Sons, with half following Plumm, and half following Daario, then you may see Plumm combine the roles of the other ones. Bloodbeard was used mainly to throw the head of the hostage at Hizdahr's feet, and they can just make him an evil Yunkai commander or something.

Speaking of the evil Yunkai, I think we will see a lot less of the outlandish slavers, since we have already seen the show tone-down how outlandish the Essos characters & sellswords are. No Bloody Mummers, no Daario's goofy blue hair and musketeer moustache, no weird hairstyle Ghiscari. So, I do not think we will be seeing Yezzan the "Ywllow Whale" as he is written in the book. Perhaps to get us to the scenes of Tyrion & Jorah as captives, and then to Daznak's pit, we'll see a group of Yunkai nobles / commanders, but unlike the book. However, I predict Zaharina may remain in there, even just for the "and one" scene - the show likes its comedic scenes too, so she may get a one-off scene during the auction. If the Yellow Whale is out, or toned down, his mutant menagerie probably is toast as well. Perhaps Sweets and Nurse can be combined into some sort of effeminate but cruel overseer character. I expect you'll also see less of Tyrion's cyvasse opponents.

Of course, the character not mentioned here is Penny. She is important to all this stuff, but given the rarity of female dwarf actresses, they may drop Penny as a character entirely. (After all, if they can callously cut Tysha out of Tyrion's character development, why not this too?)

I think the Widow of the Waterfront may remain in it as well - if they go to Volantis at all, I think she will be in it.

The show has often erased the maester / septon dividing line, so there's a good chance Haldon and Lemore get combined into one scholarly character. Benerro can be seen once, at a distance, just as with the angry preacher in King's Landing in S2. Moqorro may be more key to the proceedings, so I think he will be in. Not sure if Duckfield will be cast, but this depends how deep they want to get into the Aegon stuff. Ysilla and the other boat folks will probably be minimized. I imagine if Tyrion beds any whore or bedslave in unsatisfying fashion, it would be just one, despite the show's penchant for boobs; so, either young blond servant or sunset girl are out.

I'd love to see a scene with Duck and Faegon bro'ing it up, JonCon shaking his head, and Haldon shaking his head and saying, "You guys..."

And we need a scene with Harry S. hugging an elephant. This is a must.

Aegon is definitely in. He's way too important to cut.

If they keep Connington, he will probably be merged with the Halfmaester.

If Septa Lemore is important to the plot of the books they will introduce her too. Otherwise, she will be merged with JonCon too.

They're going to have a character similar to Duck I think, but under a different name, or more minor.

Moqorro looks to be important, so he'll be probably added

Yezzan has been confirmed in the casting call.

Daario might replace Brown Ben, but I think he might be cast.

The Sunset Girl will be either an extra or won't be shown at all. I don't think they'll even have the scene where Tyrion has his way with her because they're so bent on whitewashing his character.

You forgot to mention Penny, whom even though does "tame" Tyrion and make him realize the world around him, due to the whitewashing, won't be needed.

Everybody else will probably be cut.

  • 4 weeks later...

I think a lot of Tyrions arc is getting condensed or dispensed with.

No Penny and shes the most important character he interacts with; certainly after he gets abducted. He really doesn't spend that long or interacts anywhere near as much with Jorah. During the later chapters hes pretty much just noticing nasty things happen to Jorah n thats it.

No Moqorro to meet on the Stinky Steward.

No Brown Ben to convince to join. IMO Daario can't replace Plum. Its too much of a change from the books and the character doesn't remotely seem like he could betray Dany. IMO Yezzan will buy off the Second Sons and then later die of the plague; then Tyrion convinces the leaderless group to turncloak.

Also, I think Varys is getting merged with Jon Connington.
