Sean Bean misses the show

An article appeared in The Sun (newspaper here in UK) about Sean Bean and how he misses being on the show and that he still watches it so he can keep tabs on his "Stark children" especially Arya. What are the chances of Sean resurrecting his role to

appear in Bran's visions

Am I the only one who's kind of disappointed that most of the main actors don't read the books? I mean, I'm no fanatic who thinks everyone HAS to read the books. But if you're professionaly involved with the show, how can you not read it? I suppose if I played some random non-speaking character on anything, or even if I was the guy who makes coffee, I'd bother to read the source material. Even if it was something bad. Now, Peter Dinklage doesn't read ASoIaF? How does that make any sense?

Ooops I realise I've posted this in the wrong section.

I've watched around 90% of the audio commentaries and it's weird, some actors have read only their character's POV chapters, some have only read up to where the TV show currently is so they don't let later events in the books effect their character's current state of mind. But I always thought Peter Dinklage had read the novels

it doesn't bother me, acting is about finding your own interpretation of the character to some extent, that's what makes it believable. Having the author in your head too much is counterproductive.

Oh... You could as well say it gives them more material to create their interpretation. Otherwise all they have is limited dialogue. Maybe what you say is true for some actors, but it sounds like an excuse because they're really lazy and just want to enjoy fame and money.

I have been a Sean Bean fan since enjoying him on the "Sharpe" series on BBC. He is also one of the best medeaval genre actors there has ever been and it was his star-power that got the HBO show off to start with. His casting got people like me, who had never read the books to watch and I went out and bought all the books and read them twice before ADWD came later that July. His death in the books stunned me and the in the show it was still stunning. I miss his character and him playing it.

~off to cry over Ned Stark and Sean Bean~ :crying:

I think the story of Jason Momoa reading was pretty funny, he was pissed Drogo was killed, threw his book, but of course.....went and bought ACOK to see if it was a trick, LOL

I just googled some of the Sean Bean articles about this, and I love that he misses playing with swords, too, and says he actually has a couple?

He was a terrific embodiment of Ned. Just hearing his voice in that dream of Bran's in s3, I think, was heart breakingly beautiful.

Sean Bean always dies beautifully. This isn't a troll btw. He, along with John Hurt die the most. As soon as I saw his name in the opening credits of GOT I knew he was doomed. It's like Leonardo Dicaprio, there's always that more than usual chance that his character will die.

I hope he does return, just because his performance really anchored the first season.

And I can see why actors might avoid reading the books. If they know what's coming too far ahead, it might effect their performance. Others try to learn as much as possible about their character and everyone else's. It's a matter of personal preference and method, I guess.

Ok, I was a show watcher before I read the books. Put me down as a dumb ass who thought Ned Stark would be the hero of the story(and hence live). I guess I should have known that ol Ned's days were numbered because, well, he was played by Sean Bean. It was definitely a moment of derp for me.

At any rate, I thought Bean did a good job on the show.

Sean Bean is awesome. He portrayed Ned Stark beautifully and it would be great to see him in some flashback.

I think you might be referring to this: Sean Bean Death Reel

Yup, that's the one.

Seeing Sean Bean's name is "foreshadowing"

That's so sad - such a good actor and they just can't wait to kill him off.

We are all fans but, you know, some of the actors might simply find the books to be garbage. I don't think it is a requirement to dedicate several months to a fantasy series when you've got the actual scripts in front of you.

I do agree of course it might help and I personally enjoy the stories, but to each his/her own

:agree: Game of Thrones got my attention because of Sean Bean. You don't usually see actors from successful franchises (Lord of the Rings) doing TV shows. I guessed the quality would be at a cinematic level because of him.

On the subject of actors not reading the books, I can certainly understand why they wouldn't want to jump ahead of their character development. However, I think reading the material (chapters) of the season they are about to film would help. It would flesh out their understanding of the scripts, knowing what their character is thinking (literally being inside their head). They don't need to read ahead, just read what they are about to be acting. If I was an actor I would do this.
