I searched for the Season 1 discussion thread but no results, looks like it's either been lost or binned. :dunno:

Anyway, Season 2 starts in September, here is the 1st Trailer:

I had a thread about it last year (unless it was buried in the Hannibal season 1 thread) but it seems to have died.

Season one was very good. A british attempt at serial killer which usually means less flash and down to Earth. It was definitely the case. Anderson had an interesting character in that she behaved a lot like a man in terms of her attitude towards relationships and it was fun to see how that challenged the cast surrounding her. The killer was also chilling in the sense he was a family man rather than the usual super intelligent loner.

I was a bit disappointed they were stringing it out into another season with the same antagonist to be perfectly honest. I'd rather have had another case.

This show and "line of duty" still shows the BBC can make great police dramas though. I think Denmark and HBO gave them a kick up the ass.

I thought Line of duty was the stronger of the 2 shows, I liked the Fall but not quite as much. I think BBC makes great drama when it tries, but mostly it seems to churn out endless holby/casualty soapy stuff or custom stuff thats pretty dull like the paradise or that one with dawn french.

Yeah, Line of Duty had a cracking plot and some of the best cliffhangers around. Plus they didn't make the mistake of dragging a story out and used a different arc for season 2. Season 3 i suspect may combine things.

Spooks was also great for a good long while - I just got depressed by season 6 how everyone kept dying or had the lives utterly ruined.

I was a fan of the first series so i'll give this a watch. I'm struggling to remember - did they arrest the people responsible for shooting the police officer?

I never saw Line of Duty but The Shadow Line with Christopher Eccleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Rea and Rafe Spall was a great watch, one of the better cop things in a while

I can't remember either - I was never that big a fan of that side of the story to be honest as it didn't seem to work with the main one.

"The shadow Line" is probably this decade's "State of play" - it was an amazing piece of work. And I've just discovered the creator has "the honourable woman" out which my dad says is excellent and has now flew to the top of my "to watch list" when I get back from holiday.

The problem with these shows is it's either ridiculous CSI stuff, or ridiculous "mind of a killer" stuff. This show is the latter. Lots of Anderson sitting in a station figuring it out by "thinking like the killer".

Rather than actual police work (this is what made The Wire so great).

I do recall there being a bit of a leap in the last season but I can't remember what. I think it had something to do with a child's drawing. At least in this show the cop didn't actually succeed despite all of the "inside the mind" profiling.

I thought The Shadow Line had an amazing beginning (episode 2 was absolutely phenomenal), but was let down by the end being a bit silly and anticlimactic. I haven't rewatched it though.

Will have to look up the other show, though. Never even heard of it.

So season 2 started this week. I just watched 2x01 and I'd say the season is off to a good start. It was slow at times, but ended on a really creepy high note.

I don't think you'll look at tongue twisters the same way again.

Anyways, very happy to have Stella Gibson back in my life

Ah yes! It has had its fair share of Gibson making speeches about the 'mind of the killer stuff', but I think the creepy plot twists and excellent acting more than make up for this.

I'd never heard of Jamie Dornan before I saw this programme. It makes me really wanna watch his other stuff, except I really don't wanna watch 50 Shades of Grey, lol!

Has anybody seen him in anything other than The Fall, and if so, would you recommend it?

The only other thing I've seen him in was the first season of Once Upon a Time. I stopped watching after season 1

but Jamie Dornan's character doesn't last long anyways

I wouldn't watch OUaT just for him though, since he's a background character. I too am going to take a pass on 50 Shades.

Once Upon a Time, hmmm, I'd never heard of that. Well I've just had a look and it's not available on Netflix anyway, so it looks like I will be giving it a pass then!

Now I think about it, that wasn't terribly imaginitive casting, casting Dornan as Christian Grey, his most well known role being a sexually violent sadist. Oh well, I shan't be watching anyway!

Also just dawned on me... Episode 2 tonight!!

Honourable woman was very good but the ending was a little bit neat. well worth a watch.

Season 2 of the Fall as good but it really feels like episode 7 of season one and I have to admit to being a bit lost as they made no effort at all to get me back up to speed or pretend like it was a new stage in the story.

That aside, it was still pretty good. It's fascinating to watch this maniac in such a cold way without any effort being made to either humanise him or make him look like some kind of super person.

I'm liking these British cop dramas a lot. Much better than most the stuff we're getting in the US these days, where the cop dramas are mostly soap operas, having little to do with any actual crime, and the police procedurals are dying a slow, silly death. I'm excited about the return of The Fall, but I was a little disappointed about the decision to drag the same storyline into season two.

Yeah, it really does just seem like Series 1 continued doesn't it? I wonder why they decided to stretch it over 2 series instead of 1. Especially as the little girl has grown visibly and there's only a time gap of a few days between Series 1 and Series 2.

Was there no "Previously on The Fall..." at the beginning? Well I rewatched Series 1 on iPlayer, so I'm all up to date. All I could remember before rewatching though was that the family drove off to Scotland at the end.

it's been awhile since I saw it, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I need to download the episode/s in the new season. I thought it was a much better depiction of a serial killer than say, Dexter, for instance. I can't even remember how season 1 ends. Can someone remind me?
