What about Penny?!

I dunno, I just like the whiny little tramp. I can't help but feel she will play a big role; almost certainly she'll save Tyrion's life in some significant way. Any other Penny love out there? C'mon, doncha wanna see her and Jorah make beautiful babies together and run a slave plantation in Lys when the wars are over?!

Penny is awesome. I think she's wasted on Tyrion, but I still enjoy all her scenes immensely. Whenever I come across a Penny scene, I perk up and think, "what's she gonna do now?"

I kinda think GRRM will have Tyrion fall for Penny. He's tried his luck twice with whores and both ended in deaths (one at his hand), and now he's met another dwarf who seems to like him. Feels sort of poetic that the only person who would ever truly feel something towards him is another dwarf.

Penny is Tyrions exit in his spiral of despair. He will be forced to make a decision about her. I assume about her death. He will either sacrifice her and thus fall deeper into his abyss. Or he will save her at a significant cost to his self and start a redemption arc.

In my opinion

I kinda think Tyrion's relationship with Penny is more fatherly, or brotherly than anything else. Besides, has anyone managed to survive the bloody flux yet once they're as far gone as she was when last we saw her? Sadly I see a tragic end coming for Penny.

I like her. She is a sweet, naive girl, I don't see any problem with her. The things that were done to her and her brother were very sad. She is a good influence on Tyrion and I think she doesn't whine nearly as much as people say and when she does is justified IMO. I think she mellows to Tyrion pretty fast actually considering he is rather harsh with her in the beginning.

Wasn't she like dying at the ending of DwD? I remember Tyrion saying she was soiling herself, unable to leave the tent, maybe she already mounted the pale mare.

Even if don't, I don't see Tyrion falling for her or they having a future together, but I do see her pointing Tyrion in a way of redemption. If they eventually fall in love and all that crap I would be severly dissapointed, feeling it was a "resigning yourself to the cards you were given" situation, something unlikely for Tyrion.

Wouldn't be nice if Tyrion brought Penny about to exact revenge on Littlefinger (the source of all recent Tyrion's problems)? I think it would be awesome if the jousting dwarves prank turns to bite Petyr in the butt.

Here's a crackpot for you:

Penny is a performer and a dwarf. Who smuggled Lord Butterwell's dragon egg out of Whitewalls? The performing dwarfs. Penny is descended from them and has the egg hidden somewhere.

I've thought about this before as well. In the interest of keeping slightly crackpot thread going, I'll offer this:A group of dwarves could be a highly effective tool to someone.Varys was a mummer, and he's no stranger to employing abstract plans to meet some end. For the most part, we don't know much about his past other than what he tells us.While the dwarves were performing at the wedding in King's Landing they could have been meeting with Varys. Either exchanging information or dropping off/picking up goods (dragon eggs or a report of where they are). Varys is known for using children as his "little birds", so dwarves could easily fit this role. This could go along with the question of why Varys didn't want Tryion to see what was inside a certain room below the dungeons of the Red Keep. Could be a cache of dragon eggs. Or maybe just one. I think it's unlikely that Penny would be involved in any serious scheming like this, but maybe not her brother Groat. She said he's the one who plans everything. She may just have knowledge of some shady dragon egg knowledge. Penny and her troupe could have been on their way to Mereen to find Danny to drop off an egg, it information regarding an egg.Again, this is just keeping with the crackpot thread quoted here, which I'm a fan of.

She's one of my favourite non-POV characters.

:agree: Mine too.

I also agree to that.

This is a good observation. And I second it.

Especially the last bit makes me think.

Need to re-read ADwD.

:agree:

I don't get all the Penny hate around her

ETA: Where is everyone getting that she is sick from? because that isnt the case

I don't also get all the Penny hate. She's okay with me. And pretty much necessary and important for Tyrion's own redemption arc.
