Jamie's flawed adaption from Book to TV Show...

Hi, first post, may have put this topic in the wrong place ? Never the less...

Nikolai Caster Waldou's portrayal of Jamie has been superb thus far, his bath scene with Briene remains one if the show's highlights for me but the producers have harmed so much of what makes up the character with there piss poor fight scenes.

The Ned Stark fi
ght scene was Hollywood bullshit! Ned couldn't live with Jamie but the show leaves viewers under the impression that rather than being the deadliest swordsman in the seven kingdoms, he is in fact lucky to have survived his encounter with Ned Stark, an average warrior at best!

In his fight with Brienne, he gets his ass straight up handed to him. In the books, he only just looses despite being in chains after being imprisoned for over a year. In her POV chapter, Brienne later refleflects that it had been all she could do to hold him off and that unchained and at full strength "no man" in Westeros could withstand him.

In his own POV chapter, Jamie muses over a long list of characters including The Mountain, The Hound, Strongboar, The Great Jon, Gerold Hightower and Robert Baratheon and claims that with speed and skill he could beat them all - a now laughable statement to viewers of the show.

The only living men that he ever acknowledges could give him any contest at all are the legendary knights, Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Brynden Tully (admittedly doubts begin to creep into his mind over Loras and Brienne).

This is such an important part of who Jamie is and how he defines himself. By not stressing just how skilled a warrior he was it devalues the personal struggle he faces when later dealing with the loss of his sword hand. His entire identity and sense of self worth is shattered. Being a knight was all he'd ever been. Being the best knight is all he'd ever known. Now, he feels he is nothing.

Grr. This is one of the few complaints I have of the HBO adaption. Rant over.

Which other characters do you feel have been adapted poorly from book to show?
