The Black Death
I was through a re-read and read that the memories of Dany from Braavos start with the house with the red door. Later on she says that for her all the doors are red. That brought to my mind a vague connection to something I read but I can't remember what. Can anyone point me where later in the story we see red doors linked (or not) to her?
Lady Blizzardborn
I don't recall any other specific red doors, but be forewarned that this almost always leads to the lemon tree discussion.
Skinchanging Sweetrobin
There is only one other red door in the story. Dragonstone.Dany thinks occasionally about red doors throughout the story, although it happens a lot more once she gets to Meereen.
Danelle
Are you referring to the scene from GOT, when Jorah and Dany at the Dothraki Sea talk about home and Dany thinks It was King's Landing and the great Red Keep that Aegon the Conqueror had built. It was Dragonstone where she had been born. In her mind's eye they burned with a thousand lights, a fire blazing in every window. In her mind's eye, all the doors were red. Skinchanging Sweetrobin
I personally don't think the house with the red door is Dragonstone, but I've text searched "red door" before.I think it's in the ACOK prologue that Dragonstone has a red door. I personally think it's a coincidence.
The Dragons Hand
Probably not in Braavos, given the lack of lemontree's.If it is on dragonstone that kind of suggests she was there for longer than she thought. Meaning she might be older, past that is going into crackpot territory.

Another theory I've seen is that she might have been taken to Dorne after they escaped Dragonstone, but I don't buy that either. There is suppose to be a menagerie in the Sea Lords home in Braavos, it wouldn't be to hard to arrange to have a lemon tree there as well.

From what I can tell about the house with the red door: Was a house made of stone. Had a lemon tree. Perhaps had grass around it that Dany would run barefoot in. Had a room with carved faces. Viserys and Darry were there with servants. Felt like home for Dany. Viserys didn't like it. Darry was sick and barked orders. Smelled of perfume. Now, Dany could be blending memories from various places. But, it seems to me that 1) She was not in Braavos, which means 2) Viserys lied to her about her childhood for some reason. When I think about the context of the visions/dreams in which she sees the red door and pair it with text about sensing home beyond that door, "green fields and great stone houses and arms to keep her warm", I don't get the warm fuzzies about "home" being Braavos. Or Dragonstone, or Pentos, or anywhere else she lived during her exile. IMO she has been misled about her memories of "home", or......(uber cracky, be warned) the memories of "home" are not HER memories.

Skinchanging Sweetrobin
It would be a twist if Aegon were real and Daenerys fake? I think that's very possible. I also think that R+L=D is a possibility, but the R+L=J group would likely kill me.
PrettyPig
Intriguing...past life? Greensight? Visions given to her my Quaith? Let's just say that I think Dany's conception/birth story might be a bit more complex than we have been led to believe. If you go back through her dreams/visions/prophecies, and even in her conversations with different people, there is a lot of emphasis placed on Rhaegar being "the last true dragon", and equal emphasis placed on a very strong connection between Dany and this much older brother that she never even knew - Rhaegar looking at her in the HotU vision, galloping toward the Usurper's army on the Trident seeing Rhaegar in his armor but with her own face beneath the helm, etc. Quaithe: Telling her to come to Asshai (land of shadowbinding and blood magic) to find "truth". "Remember who you are, Daenerys. The dragons know...do you?" I dunno, sounds like a deeper mystery to me. Drink from the cup of ice....drink from the cup of fire.... Pod The Impaler
I think it's in the ACOK prologue that Dragonstone has a red door. I personally think it's a coincidence. Ser Darry may have also painted the Braavos house with one, to remind Viserys and Dany of the place they left behind. :dunno: Had a room with carved faces. This strikes me as a bit odd, considering some of their Braavosi neighbours.
The Black Death
I think that the "her" memories of her childhood are all twisted, specially right after fleeing from Dragonstone: she was just too young to remeber. Viserys could have told her the stories about they and the servants in Braavos and lemons, but subconsciously she sees the red door and her real "Home".
