I had some specific ideas as to how these characters looked when reading, but I know now the producers are not likely to cast anyone who matches those images. So, I will try to see if these guys can plausibly do the characters they are pegged for:

Alexander Siddig as Doran Martell - Somehow I had the impression Doran was heavyset, and/or bloated by his gout. He may be working under some prosthetics (swollen joints, legs, etc).

I also figured Doran to be more.... well, white, than his brother. But if the producers want to be more consistent racially, it should be reasonable.

Siddig has perhaps the toughest job: not only living up to portraying Oeryn's brother, but the one major power in Westeros we haven't seen yet. If anyone is up to the task, Siddig is.

Jonathan Pryce as the High Sparrow: Too well known for me to really see him as just the High Sparrow. But this guy screams pwnage. Rooting for him all the way.

The rest: eh. Don't really know them. Only know Castle-Hughes by name, never really seen her in anything. They all should work well enough.

Hrmm, that doesn't make sense then. I guess Arrianne could still be in and just make her younger? or not play up the part with women being ahead of men in line of succession?

I don't think so. They'll have to keep the line of succession thing in order to crown Myrcella, which I assume they're going to leave in.

I think with casting of a well-known actor like Pryce as the High Sparrow, you'll likely see a good deal of focus on Cersei and the events in King's Landing. They'll likely expand his role from the books, like they did with Olenna Tyrell when they got Diana Rigg for the role.

Has anybody considered the possibility that for show purposes that Arriane and Aegon are already married.

Would go a long way to explaining why why there's been no casting news- if Aegons's in his casting will be a secret and if they're already together then you would think Arriane's casting will be a secret too.

This would save so much time as well as allowing Trystane to take over the Queenmaker role and then after that fails, Doran can explain to Trystane that he's sent Arriane to Aegon and that he is now being sent to Day to take on Quentin's role.

And just maybe if they're is any truth to Bronn being in Dorne, then perhaps Doran hire him to escort Trystane to mereen, with one of the Sandsnakes also, thereby cutting Yronwood and Drinkwater and in the process making Mereen a lot more entertaining, particularly if in the books, Bronn and Tyrion reunite at some point, or if all Bronn does now is fade into obscurity, this way they could give time a great death in Mereen.

Having Trystane in the Queenmaker role eliminates the Arya Oakheart role And Jamie can take the Baron Swann role before heading back to KL then the riverlands. With one of the Sandsnakes in Mereen, Ellaria can take the seat on the Small Council and the either Nym or Tyene becomes the septa.

Hopefully I've got some of this right- we'll see next year I guess!!

Siddig is always how I pictured Doran Martell. I literally yelled out loud when I saw his face on that video. Everyone else looked pretty good, too, and I can't believe they got Pryce for the High Sparrow. Can't wait for next season.

I am very glad Siddig got the Doran role. One of the few times I've seen many guesses about casting actually come true. I kind of figured they wouldn't go with an unattractive person despite the health issues Doran has. That's just how Hollywood works.

Jonathan Pryce as the High Sparrow is AWESOME. Very excited to see an actor of his caliber involved.

I like that theory, and I submitted a rather similar one in another thread, although I don't expect Trystane to take Quentyn's role. Doran needs to make a big reveal at the end of the season. And Quentyn is 99% cut (Doran could have named Trystane as his heir in a way to show the other Kingdoms that he is now obeying to their laws, thus Trystane having an older sister is still within the realm of possibility; an older brother, no way). Arianne can be the "smuggled" child of Doran's, officially at Yronwood, but in fact traveling somewhere else, as in with Aegon, or on her way to meet him. We could see them this season assuming fake identities, only to be revealed as who they really are at the end of the season, or they could be like Ramsay in season 2: a mysterious force attacking a major place in the last episode, without showing their faces, thus postponing their casting to next season.

I'm content with that casting, especially the Sand Snakes, the High Sparrow and Doran. I'm very worried about the Arianne omission and am now convinced they are cutting her. It's probably the biggest change D&D are making, seeing that the repercussions last till the end of the series run. Having said that, I'm stoked that they seem to be focussing on the Sand Snakes a bit more, something I feel the books haven't done enough of (yet). I wonder how they'll handle Sarella though? In addition, I have a feeling that Ellaria will play a major role, seeing as it was a significant casting (to me anyway); maybe they'll change her character a bit and make her the queen maker, which still begs the question why they'd cut Arianne from the role in the first place.

hahaha always a funny word! :)

It's the major characters of season 5 so i guess no Quentyn or Arianne in GoT, we'll see where D&D wants to go, i guess season 6 wil be for the Greyjoys.

I am surprised about the casting for the Sands sisters they look so different that it confuses me, and what about Trystane? He does not look like a Dornish, i can't imagine him being from the same family as Alexander Siddig or Pedro Pascal. I think Siddig got the part because of all the fans here;)

I totally agree about Trystane. The casting for the Sand Snakes does look awesome tho. I seriously hope there is a Quentyn and Arianne. I would be very dissappointed if they got cut. I'm also eagerly waiting for the Kindly Man, the Waif, Brown Ben Plum, and Maggy the Frog!

Where are the Greyjoys? :(

The lack of Arianne and Quentyn is disturbing, I have a gut feeling we won't see them :(

Also Alexander Siddig, almost had tears of joy!

Sand Snakes look great!!! (Rosabell is a huge hottie)

Trystane is fine

Myrcella re-casting was fine but unnecessary

Areo Hotah is obviously different to the books but as long as he's big and scary looking I don't mind.

Yezzan is fine

High Sparrow Pryce is brilliant, I've always been a keen fan of his.

Think this is quite likely. D&D seem to have left out a lot of that part of Dorne. Remember the arrival of the Dornish at the start of season 4 where they replaced Lady Blackmont with Lord Blackmont?

They didn't "replace" Lady Blackmont. They needed a random Dornish noble to lead the party, and picked a random Dornish noble house name to lead it, without looking at the appendix in detail, as that's the only place Lady Blackmont has ever appeared. I doubt they gave that two seconds' thought.

Arianne's almost certainly cut, and I suspect it's because they aren't doing the Aegon story.

Has anybody considered the possibility that for show purposes that Arriane and Aegon are already married.

No, that's just an overly-complicated patch for the more obvious explanation, that Arianne is cut.

I was just wondering if they were going to cover the High Sparrow the other day (since they've paid little attention to the church on the show).

This casting (Pryce) made me very happy.

Not sure what they're doing with the Dorne material. For every fantastic adjustment they come up with (Arya & Tywin, Brienne & The Hound), they make some inexplicable cut (the truth about poor Tysha, the original Reek backstory) that diminishes the drama. I hope that's not what's happening here.
