Leonardo
GRRM has said that there is a lot of his world we haven't seen, and that it's probably bigger than Earth by a good margin. Someone did the calculations once and came up with it being waaaaaay bigger, and that we may not even be seeing half of it. He's said in an SSM that there is an equivalent to the Americas of our world over there, though if you read it in context it makes more sense and is more ambiguous. I don't think he means there are two continents necessarily, but that there is land over there somewhere. I don't think we'll be seeing any of it during the context of ASOIAF though as the world is already huge and much of it unexplored.
Fury Burns
The people of Lonely Light, the farthest westward island in the Iron Islands, claim to have reached the land. Or at least I remember something like that being said before. So, there's definitely something over there, but I doubt we'll find out about it any time soon, if at all. However, if you really must know, you can figure out the distances for yourself. The Wall is a hundred leagues long. A league is three miles. Go from there.--GRRM http://www.westeros....ize_of_Westeros In inches, the distance from the wall to the south coast of Dorne (3000 miles or 1000 leagues) is a very convenient 12, making each inch equivalent to 250 miles. The Known World map is 2 feet and 11 inches wide totaling 8750 miles from east to west and 5750 miles from north to south. The equator on Planetos. appears to run through the site of the former city of Valyria. The lands to the north and south of it are clearly equatorial desert, jungle, and savannah. The Arctic is marked for its lack of trees, Planetos’ Arctic Circle sits at the northern edge of the Haunted Forest beyond the Wall. The distance between Planetos’ Arctic Circle and equator is 4125 miles. On Earth, the distance between the Arctic circle and equator is 4608 miles (give or take). If you accept the equator and Arctic Circle Planetos is 89.51% the size of Earth. Four times Pi times the radius squared.... or four times the circumference.... In the case of the artic circle to the equator.... we are looking at 60 degrees or 1/6 the circumference. 583 miles added to the 4125 60 degree artic circle to the equator makes a substantial difference. The 7000 by 6000 miles the map represent 42 million square miles of the 196 million square miles on earth's surface is 21.42 percent VS the 176 million in the original calculation making the map show 28.54 percent of Planetos. If Planetos is slightly larger than earth... then the map shows less than 21.42 percent of Planetos. If Planetos is only 89.51 percent the size of earth and shares its density....it woiuld altering the boiling temperature of water to 86 degrees Celsius.... and raising the freezing point slightly.. If Planetos is much larger we would have to increase the boiling point and lower the freezing point of water...

There are no equatorial jungles north of Valyria. The equator runs through the steaming jungles of Sothoryos, just like it does through the jungles of South America and Central Africa on our planet. Thus, if you move the equator to its proper position you get a planet that is quite a bit bigger than the one you calculated.

Take a look at the effect of mountains on the desertification of Africa, There were equatorial deserts. Ocean currents and elevation have more to do with the form of earth's deserts and rainforests than their position on the equator.
