Lohodrom
Rhaegar? We really don't know anything bout him, but it's an interesting thought. Not sure why but I dont think Rhaegar is dead and Marwyn seems like a possible candidate if thats the case.
The Idle Raven
Other than a very speculative shot in the dark, do you have any evidence to back up this claim? Personally I believe that Rhaegar IS dead after a lethal encounter with Bob's warhammer on the Trident. As for Marwyn; well there probably is far more to him than we know at this point. Marwyn is after all an archmeaster specialising in magic and he has charged off to look for Danny and her Dragons. He will probably also encounter the Iron Born, Tyrion etc as well. Marywn is interesting, very much so, but he's no Rhaegar.
bent branch
No. Marwyn is too old.
Lohodrom
Fair enough. Thinking back now he was around at same time as Rhaegar so wouldnt make sense.
ViserionsFire
If we're to go on a speculative route, he could have been Rhaegar's Maester and was present when Lyanna gave birth. Also, his presence during the event may have been why he disappeared and went to Essos about that same time.
Beorn Snow
To old. Looks nothing like him as well. If it´s a glamour, where´s the ruby? Him being his personal maester could be cool, but a little weird if it hasn´t been mentioned before. He seems to have a connection to Dorne though, and TOJ is in Dorne. TheHouseHB
Marywn to Daenerys "Sorry babe you are not the heir to the throne". "I actually have been to Westeros and know that there is this boy Jon Snow who is Rhaegars son and heir I was a witness to his birth".
Lohodrom
Well, between his knowledge of the prophecy and his quote about it biting your dick off, and Rhaegar studying and finding something in his books, his connection to Oberyn, I figured there could be something there. Tyrion1991
Game of Thrones casting suggests he is a load of filler. :D
gregg22
Rhaegar is dead. There is no strategy benefit, or plot benefit to him faking his death and pretending to be someone else

SunflashJT
Why is it so hard for people to just accept that Rhaegar is DEAD!?!?! The guy had his chest caved in by Robert, witnessed by no less than two whole armies!!! The dude is dead and gone, he has no more part to play in the story, until it is revealed he is Jon Snow's Father.
tormund's beard
yeah Rhaegar is dead i don't think robert would just leave him for death, for what we know of robert's hate for targs im suprised that he didn't hammer'd his corpse to pieces after he killed him. Lars Penry
Rhaegar's body was cremated.Yes, it's possible a series of odd events occurred, body replacements and so on... but no, there's no evidence that suggests this.

I S**t Gold
My sneaking suspicion is that Marwyn is dead. I think Jaqen killed him off screen because his interests did not align with the Faceless Men's interests. I can't pass this off as anything other than speculation, but my hunch is that Jaqen is in Oldtown to find a way to kill dragons. Marwyn is obviously one of the most formidable Maesters and his guidance would be invaluable to Dany. So when I re-read that chapter with the knowedge that Pate was Jaqen (first time passed me by) i wondered if rather than a preview to a plan the purpose of the scene was so we could witness Marwyn signing his own death warrant. I don't think we'll see Marwyn again, but we might see somebody who looks an awful lot like him. EDIT - I am aware here that I run the risk of the urge to speculate overwhelming any good sense the poster may possess. I'm only obeying the law haha.
