About new season 5 characters

Since the main season 5 casting topic is mostly about who is not cast, i thought it would be nice to have a topic to share our opinions about characters and actors who were cast.

I am very happy with casting. No disappointment since i already knew/expected we will not get Arianne, white Hotah, blonde Tyene and Myrcella is being recast

Doran Martell - i fancasted Siddig for Doran since someone suggested him for Oberyn 2 years ago, very happy with this choice

Trystane - good i guess, seems they want to add some eye candy for female viewiers

Myrcella - they probably have their reasons for recast, i liked original Myrcella, but i think this one will be good

Yezzan - he look different then how he is described in the books, but i do not see it as a problem, who know he might be as good as Kraznys

High Sparrow - i actually do not know Jonathan Pryce much, but everyone say he is very good, so i believe them

Areo Hotah - excellent casting i would say, he seems to have all what Areo should have: a physical side, an appropriate age and a certain softness that is needed to be part of family as opposite to be just badass black dude

Sand Snakes - big relieve for me, i liked them a lot in the books and i was nervous about their casting. There was lot of talks about how they must be "PoC" and no offense, but most fancasting was absolutely horrible with suggestions of 30+ years old actresses and Bollywood stars. I find it sort of funny how they said they are looking for latinos and than they cast half-mauri, half-east asian and italian girl.

Obara - i am suprised she is played by KCH, i thought she will be Nymeria, but i am happy regardless to see Whale Rider girl on my favorite show. I feel there is good chance Obara role will be bigger then we expected.

Nymeria - that was suprising since casting leak suggested they were looking for half-black person unlike Obara and Tyene we did not had any leaks to adjust our expectation. I hope they say her mother is from Ashai or something like that. Volantis does not fit since they used it for Talisa backstory (she stole book Nymeria appearance too)

Tyene - omg, they changed her a lot, but she still will be my favorite snake (along with Sarella).

I am curious what being Ellaria daughter will mean for her. I expect she will seductive instead of being fake pious. I guess she will have daggers for posion delivery since D+D would want her involved in direct fight (books introduction of her poisonous nature is too subtle for the show), but what i really hope is they keep her being double-speaking and so nasty to Doran as she was in books. But she look so likable, they may choose to give her Sarella personality if they do not plan to do Oldtown stuff.

Actually, my only frustration with the announced casting is Tyene.

Same here. Tyene's being so different is part of her character. She's not as openly dangerous as the others, she doesn't look Dornish. Her mother was a septa for crying out loud.

When Keisha Castle-Hughes' name came up I immediately thought of Obara. She's a wonderful actress but she's not the physical type for Nym the voluptuous. And while she's way prettier than Obara is that doesn't bother me much. They can always use makeup to change her look.

Jonathan Pryce is a brilliant actor. I've loved him in everything I've seen him in. I really like it when he plays a villain.

I always imagined areo to be some one like idris elba in thor. But the actor they cast is gonna be great as well. I hope they give him a bad ass fight scene.

All of them will do very well on their roles. Excited to see them, specially the High Sparrow!
