If Jeyne Westerling is in the TWOW prologue

...to me it lends credence to the theory she has escaped with the Blackfish, and thus the Blackfish would be the POV. otherwise the POV would have to be someone in the Westerlands or Riverlands, and what would be the point in an Emmon Frey POV culminating in him just getting killed off? As satisfying as the latter might be.

I think it'll be a Lannister man escorting her crew back to the Westerlands. I've read some people point out that Ser Forley Prester is a solid candidate. Most likely an ambush of some sorts will take place during the course.

As of AFC, she's headed to the Crag, and Jaime's afraid that she might try to escape or be captured on the way. Its quite possible that the BWB tries to capture her, and the POV is one of the men suppose to escort her who is killed by them, or one of her rescuers who dies in the attempt (note that the death of one rescuer, does not mean the rescue fails). Its also possible that she is the POV and dies at the end, Jaime did order his men to kill her at any sign of escape. GRRM was asked wether she might die at the end, and he said that she doesn't have to be the POV, which leaves the possibility open.

All the previous prologue POVs have been new POVs, with some of them introduced just to die E.G. Pate, Maester Cressen, and Will. I'm guessing that the POV will probably be Forley Prester, the man who commands the escort, but of course, it could be any one.

Well, atleast we have the region of where the prologue comes from, Between Riverrun and the Crag. I bet the Blackfish is involved. Also, is not Edmure being moved along the same rout to Casterly Rock?, might we see Nymeria and her pack? It ought to be good.

I can definitely see this. Her coming might spell doom for a few enemies and/or friends along the way. It would give the Blackfish, should he indeed be the POV character, a chance to comment on how she reminds Brynden of Grey Wind; but, is much more feral, dangerous, unwieldy, like the Wind of Winter.

Just a thought.

Also, I have been reading since yesterday, people's ideas about what this means and what could happen.

Er, a lot.

If BWB do attack the convoy, is it with LS? Blackfish already with BWB and LS, they attack convoy with Jeyne and Edmure, and Brienne and Jaime's meeting with LS and BWB after? The last words and encounter that Jaime had with Blackfish was icy to say the least. It would be an interesting meeting again.

Yes, Maggy the Frogg is related to Sybell and Jeyne. Does she appear and we see her right before Jaime ( most likely the volanqar in her stated prophecy )shows up?

This means that Blackfish has already received the blow, if it turns out he is with BWB, and sees how his niece Catelyn is now LS? I am dreading his reaction. I am dreading him thinking he is glad Hoster didn't live to see that. If LS arrives with BWB or the people in the convoy are taken back to where she is, that means that Jeyne and Edmure better be prepared to see what happened to their mother-in-law and sister. Now a death or two might cancel any meetings of course.

Character's reactions to Stoneheart are going to be priceless. Jaime….should be interesting. Does Brienne give him the heads up before they go?

Did anyone else notice that every POV so far has met his death ON his chapter, or in Chett's case on the next chapter. If the POV is Blackfish, he is condemned to die a bloody death. I think the POV may be Richard Lonmouth aka Lem Lemoncloak, trying to kidnap Jeyne and take her to LS. If not him, someone like Thoros would make sense to me too.

Another pattern for prologues has been ice-related demise for the POV character in odd books and Essos-related demise in even books. People from Essos in the river-wester-lands include Thoros, some of the remaining bloody mummers, the ghost of Maggy the frog and (crackpot alert) the faceless man who killed Balon.

Obviously , this is south of the neck, but could Bran get involved in some way ? to possibly help Nymeria? warg her to lead the attack .. ( I know , that's a little over the top)

secondly, at first I thought the POV would be Ser Brynden , but the fact he knows so much .. He sent men to the wall. He had been so close to Robb as one of his primary advisors, quite possibly knows details of Robb's will. He also knows quite a bit about the Vale and perhaps the Royces and what they know and the politics in the Eyrie , since he's certainly heard of Lord Baelish showing up there and his niece ending up dead. What he knows of the ins and outs outs of the BWB and their intentions . I just feel GRRM would not be the type to spill the beans so heavily in the prologue

Now Edmure on the other hand. This prologue may be more likely Edmure

Why Blackfish had anything to do with Jeyne would be if he took her with her when he escaped from Riverrun and the "JW" presented to the bannisters was the younger daughter....thus explaining the discrepancy re: hips that has been so often noted. Also one might look at it the other way and say, if JW is important to the rest of the narrative, she can't just be a Lannister captive, but out there with the Blackfish...

Jeyne is also someone another claimant might eventually marry, to slightly firm up his claim to the throne even though it might not have directly dynastic implications...I guess Aegon VI especially....

Hello, this is my first post. My name's CJ.

I have been thinking about this a bit as well. I have a feeling, call it crackpot if you will, that the prologue character is going to be actually one of the winner's of GRRM's Wolf Sanctuary "become a character that gets killed auction." I know he said he's thinking about his prologue rule, so to be sure I could be wrong, but I think his prologue rule may be discarded for ADOS, not TWOW.

Does anybody know if the female auction winner was ever revealed and what her desired character was? I believe the male winner wanted to be a Volantene, right? I remember thinking at the time that it must've been an "ugh" moment for George, as the fellow I think had a very non Volantene type of name.... (wasn't the gentleman's name something like Dave Goldsmith or something?)

I was thinking that the prologue would be the auction winners character and I figured the way to do it would be that the fellow would be a Volantene by birth, immigrated to Westeros and in the employ of a lord in service to the Lannisters.

And just like so many, I too immediately thought, after finding out all the prologue info (little as it were) that the scenario would be an ambush.

I've reread the series alot and I think that sometimes the fact that George has said it's gonna be 7 (though it may be 8) books has to be taken into account with certain assumptions about the future.

I know in the first 3 books so much happened so quick, one moment someone is one place then it says "six days later" and we're moving on.... Like Tyrion's river journey in DWD, I feel like one scene on the boat would've done followed by "they arrived x days later" if it were in an earlier book.

To that end, and full disclosure I am a Stannis fan (when I first became a fan of the series, I was a big Eddard fan and since Eddard backed Stannis and Eddard died Stannis became my favorite that way, eventually after reading the character he became my favorite for other reasons.) that is why I can't see Bolton winning the Battle of Ice. I don't think George intends to end the series with the Starks usurped by the Boltons. I think if Bolton wins, another scenario needs to be begun, developed, written, etc. to oust him. For the sake of time/writing that's why I think it's most convenient for Stannis to win. I think George can't afford any more "Meerenese knots" given how much time is left and how many books are left.

That being said, that's why I think the ambush in TWOW prologue will be successful. I can't see him taking us to prologues that encompass the travel to Casterly Rock, setting up things over there, seeing them through. I just don't see it.

I think things will come to ahead in the Riverlands for sure.

I think to truly emphasize the metamoprhosis Catelyn has gone through in becoming Lady Stoneheart, I think she will have Jeyne Westerling killed. I think alot of fans would be upset about this and conflicted on their Stoneheart feelings too. I see the BWB successfully ambushing the Lannister party, I see Stoneheart killing or attempting to kill Jeyne Westerling (after successfully killing her mom and other characters.) I think Edmure will be there but will be horrified by Stoneheart and may be the one to save Jaime from her ultimately. Either way, regardless of what the show has done (and I am one to not be happy with the show's changes personally, Talisa for example, Asha's Dreadfort assault, missing characters, recastings, changing things, Jojen dying. I like the show don't get me wrong but I am way more a fan of the books.) I don't think things will go well for Lady Stoneheart, which is sad because I like her alot.

Anyway, thanks for reading my first post! Hope I didn't go too long... sorry if I broke any etiquette! :(

Great first post! I agree Stannis wins the Battle of the Ice. Also Jeyne dying in a bwB assault and being killed by LS would be a way to get her out of the narrative. I tend though to see the LS plot as playing itself out with Jaime and Brienne and not so much with Jaime/Edmure. I agree though as Edmure is one of the few people left close to pre-LS Catelyn he may have a role with her. .
