(Possible Spoilers) Devil's Horsemen :-)

Runs With Direwolves

Recommended Posts

On my daily commute I drive past Magheramorne Quarry, Co. Antrim, N.Ireland, which has previously been used to film segments of Castle Black and the Wall.

The past two mornings I have spotted the horse transport lorry belonging to The Devil's Horsemen stunt riding team. My imagination is running wild with ideas for all out combat sequences on horse so I thought I would keep everyone updated if I spot anything else that is happening. Also yesterday evening I noticed someone possibly checking out camera locations on one of the scree slopes. Closed set so no deliberate snooping, anything I could report will be on a safe speed, drive by basis.

Did a bit of background reading on The Devil's Horsemen and they can provide up to 70 trained horses!!!

Just excited to know next season's in production!! Wooooo

Eeeee!!! Apart from when the show is airing this is actually my favourite time of the year; all these tantalising snippets from the different filming locations.

Was great to see a lot more errr...horse action (!) in S4 than in previous seasons. I know they're expensive and cause a lot more "elf and safety" issues but they really do add something to the atmosphere.

I know!! I used to live in Belfast about 5 mins walk away from the Titanic Studio's and every morning, around this time of the year, while I was waiting on my lift to work a fleet of trucks would have gone past taking all the various pieces of set to the filming locations.

Always loved walking past the studios as there was sometimes a prop left out in the yard which could give me a clue to what would be going on next season. Between S03 & S04 i spotted masts with Stark banners flying from them. Still have no clue as to what they may be used for.

The quarry looks amazing as it's probably 300 feet high and they have painted a large section of it white.

Trying to work out what the horses are for:

1) Stannis' onward journey with his King's Men entourage

2) Unconfirmed ranging to Hardhome(?)

3) Arrival of a certain someone and their pursuers....

Who knows really but I love trying to figure it out hahaha and it's awesome seeing the "GOT" signs directing the crews to locations popping up for a few weeks at a time. A friend of a friend is an extra Brother at Castle Black and mentioned that there will be a significant amount of filming at the Wall, which should be interesting...

I live in the South but I know of several people who were either extras or who had other roles including the "juicy" role of "Kegs" in episode 4.08 (RIP Kegs!). It just seems to draw people in. And it must be a massive boost to the local economy.

I went to the exhibition last year when it was at the Titanic Centre and was staring over longingly at the studio and - like you - wondering what the props were for.

Been so excited for the Wall "end of ASOS/start of ADWD" material as my username should suggest so this year of speculation might kill me :p

haha yeah I know a surprising amount of people who were unnamed extras that got to lie in a puddle for half a day, I think ACOK's Robb's camp and the wounded.

The exhibition was really good, the armour and weapons looked amazing. Oh, To be a fly on the wall during filming....

Good to talk to another GOT/ASOIAF Irishman, most of my mates are exclusive show watchers and it kills me not being able to discuss the future of the show :bang:

:crying: Yeah I don't know anyone who's read the books. And the most avid show watcher I know in RL "doesn't want to commit to reading the books until they're finished" (looooooooool) but I think he's wavering on that now for obvious reasons! I've encouraged him to at least watch the Blu Ray extras to get some of the backstory on Robert's Rebellion etc.

One of his friends was an extra in the scene with Ramsay and Reek at Moat Cailin but even extracting that amount of information from him prior to S4 airing was er...torturous because he's really spoilerphobic. Can't help but post :bang: myself because that's how I feel a lot of the time.

I made the pilgrimage to Belfast for the exhibition this year too and it was even better than the previous year, the weapons really are amazing. The exhibition peeps mislabelled Lightbringer though ...

Adding to this:

- The wildlings bringing their shit through the Wall.

- Stannis riding to Queenscrown and the abandoned NW castles.

- Wrong-way Rangers.

I'm sure there'll be a few more minor casting announcements between now and S5 but if Justin Massey turns out to be one of those castings I'll be a very happy camper. Justin Massey fangirl 4 lyfe.
