Fat Mac
Hot Fuzz over Shaun of the Dead? Yep. I've always preferred Hot Fuzz, though they're all great.

polishgenius
My appreciation of Hot Fuzz was rather lessened by seeing Pineapple Express at a similar time. They're not particularly similar, but they both have a similar vein of action-comedy and odd-buddy humour running through, and Pineapple Express was better.More directly, Hot Fuzz is nowhere close to as good as the Starsky & Hutch movie. Theda Baratheon
Pineapple Express is hysterical, aye. I'll make a serious list when I get on to a computer later, naturally just had to mention Blade Runner though.

Kyoshi
I just finished Blade Runner. What an awesome movie. Thanks for the recommendations again. Here's what I loved most about the movie: it's sci-fi so I kind of went in with the fear it would be riddled with bad dialogue, otherwise known as badass cool lines by my generation. That wasn't the case. Although futuristic, I wasn't overwhelmed by gadgets and flashy toys which were annoyingly more developed than the characters and the storyline. It wasn't filled with unnecessary explosions and high speed car chases that ultimately led nowhere and did absolutely nothing to develop the story. There wasn't a cool guy on a random computer doing the impossible i.e. hack into the most secure database in the world in less than five minutes with a laptop that looks like the one my mom owns.It was a simple tale, highly enjoyable and well made. Off to another one now. Now what should it be......?

Kyoshi
:tantrum: I know, I know, we're supposed to be civil. It's just... so sappy and emotionally manipulative and saccharine, in my eyes.Plus, you know, it beat Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption to an Oscar. I still hold that grudge.Anyway, my favourite films change all the time, but I'll give a go to naming some of my favourites since 2000 or so, since TC seems to be interested in finding more recent ones. Dunno if there's any you'll not have seen, mind: ...Just this one time (I sincerely hope) I'm going to throw away my own disclaimer and applaud you. I also hold that grudge. Also, the lack of Brokeback Mountain in these lists is breaking my heart.
polishgenius
I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain yet, but it must be great, because my homophobic uncle thought it was beautiful.

Myshkin
56 posts and not one of you has mentioned the single greatest movie ever made, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Shame on you all. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... And Spring (2003) But at least one of you knows the beauty of Kim Ki-duk's films. I'd strongly recommend anything he's directed, especially Bad Guy, Samaritan Girl, and The Isle.

Especially American Hustle, IMO maybe the most entertaining and well written movie of last year.

eyenon15
The third page and no mention of the greatest movie of all time? I'm disappointed.Too much play on basic cable forces me to lower this on my list.Kinda like the first Blues Brothers, incredible movie utterly ruined by TBS and other basic cable networks.
