Reading books 6 and 7: in your top 10 of things you look forward to?

A few months back I saw someone posting a comment in the ASOIAF forum. He said reading books 6 and 7 was something that was in his top 10 of things he most anticipated. He immediately got one or two hostile comments of people who said that he doesn't have a life. Things like, school, marriage, children etc. must come first. They could not imagine something like this being in his top ten of things they look forward to.

So I'm sincerely wondering, what do you guys think? Is reading books 6 and 7 in your top 10 of things you are looking forward to? And if it isn't, does another book, movie or another form of art make it in your list?

And please, respect each others opinions and keep the hostility at zero please. :)

I think it's funny that they have time in their obviously fun filled lives to have a dig at someone else.

Now you mention it yeh, it probably is up there but can i use just one space in my top 10 for both books instead of using two? I love books so why wouldn't the conclusion to my favourite series be up there? Don't see anything wrong with that.

I genuinely look forward to the World Cup probably more than anything else in life, with ASOIAF definitely in the top 5. If that makes me a loser then fair enough.

It's a strange question though, because I don't really look forward to getting married or having kids in the same way. If it happens it happens. You can't beat that 'counting down the days, can't sleep with excitement' feeling that we'll get in the run-up to TWOW.

Also feel that way about the world cup, although I root for Mexico so everytime it comes up im a little less excited to see another 2nd round loss.

Not really. In fact, if not for the HBO show that comes out every year and the popularity it has now, I would have forgotten pretty much about it.

Of course I love the books and the series, and I also enjoy spending time in these forums, but when you're not daily reminded, other stuff overcomes you. Or at least that happens to me.

Honestly? No. Don't get me wrong, I'll read them and probably enjoy them. But my emotional investment in the series has pretty much run its course. It's a story that I enjoy and would like to see finished but if I never read another ASOIAF book again I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Well these are things that are far off and rare occurrences so it makes sense to make a top 10.

I mean I want to kiss a girl, and maybe even have sex with her, that's number one over any book release but I'm pretty sure if I try really hard I can do that in under a month or so.

Media releases and such of your favorite artists are more of a rare occurrence.

Books, in general, are one of the greatest joys of my life, so yeah. Screw anybody who says agin' me.

If you're strictly referring to books of aSoIaF, yep, I'm pretty pumped for them. I'm just as ecstatic to have a new book of the Second Apocalypse by Bakker, The Dagger and Coin by Abraham, and Kingkiller Chronicles by Rothfuss.

At the moment, no. Because I don't have a clue when I'll get a chance to read them (well after each is released no doubt). In a top ten of books I'm looking forward to, TWoW and ADoS would definitely be there, just not an overall list of life events.

I am however very much looking forward to TWoIaF as I happen to know my parents are getting it for me. :D

I don't see why reading the books would not be in a list of things that you are excited about in the future-

I am already married, already done school, already had kids, I am retired at 36- I think its ridiculous that someone couldn't have it be something they really look forward to

- I am in no hurry for my kids to grow up- there are no movies that I want to see- I have traveled enough -

If you are talking about anticipating outside events that I have no control over- I would put it in my top-ten as well-

which is what I am sure this person was speaking of-

No surprise people play the "high and mighty" card on the internet
