Lot of people say Arya is done with the Faceless men and on her own. Now a lot of people are happy about it. Why aren't you afraid? This guys aren't carebears who exited for Arya's benefit, they are a order of assassins, they gave her a chance to leave, she did not take it, she has seen the workings of their creed. I think they would come after her.

What do you guys think?

I agree. She has worn someone else's face, seen their secrets.

I think if Arya wanted to quite the conditions imposed would be extreme, or else the circumstances quite unusual.

There are several ways it could happen, but I doubt it is as simple as saying "I quit".

I think they might want her to leave.

They did try, she didn't take it, instead she stayed and learned their secrets, they blinded her for even killing someone on her own, because she gave herself to them.

I remember a long thread discussing it. People said there's no evidence you can't leave the FM or that they kill those who do. IMO cults not letting you out is not only a cliché, they have to protect their secrets... Specially if it involves magical powers. I don't think one is simply allowed to leave the FM. Yet, since there's no proof, it will be an endless debate.

what secrets does she really know? I think if Arya goes back to avenge her family, the Kindly Man will be rooting her on from his perch.

How to change her face and the fact they are run by a council, seriously, they are not carebears, she is wasting their time.

JOTED, kind of confuse by the reference, you mean what happen to Varys or what Varys does?

What happened to Varys. My theory is that he was a FM acolyte too, and he learned the basics of their tactics (the theory, mostly), but then he broke the rules somehow and the punishment was his castration

Or, alternately, I think castration could be one of the requirements all the FM undergo, and there's a bit of evidence for this

No, blinding is part of the training. They did it sooner than scheduled though, which seems more like a promotion than a punishment.

She doesn't know how the face changing works, just that they do it. Knowing how it's done would mean she can do it on her own, and she can't. We don't know that they consider it a waste of time to train promising talent. How else will they find the rare ones who can make the cut? And it's possible that she can leave but will have to do something for them (spying maybe?) in payment for what she's been given.

I've thought for quite some time that Varys was a FM trainee. And I think the castration was one of the requirements. Remember the Kindly Man said you have to give up all of yourself. I believe there was a mention of something regarding body parts too.

Based on the Varys former FM theory, I'm not really worried about Arya leaving.

Yep, he says the Many Faced God will take all of her, including her private parts, yeah. He also mentions a "cold cup" that I think could be the numbing potion Varys drank.

The kindly man also says that bit about the few women being FM because they bring life by giving birth

As to Arya's leaving, maybe will happen, but from Mercy she appears to outright just leaving.

Yeah, that was my impression as well, but it seems a bit abrupt, I don't know

I don't believe Arya is in any way done with or has left her training. She has been fixated on learning to change her own face since she saw it done, and I doubt she would ever give up on that herself. Arya is not impatient, nor is she impulsive. She knows she has time and her youth on her side. She was willing to be blind as long as it took, when that alone would send most people running for the door (after requesting their sight back so they could find it).

As to whether they will allow her to learn that part - that's another question. Can she learn to lie well enough to convince them that she's given up her personal vendettas and now serves only the Many Faced God? If not, then I doubt they will give her the one thing she wants most to know - likely resulting in a rather unpleasant departure scene from the temple, and driving her to far darker people to learn what she still needs to know.

I don't believe at all that Varys was in training to become a FM. There was nothing to indicate deception in the story he told about how he was cut, nor have any of his other actions belied his tale. Certainly some magic would have helped him in his endeavors many times yet we have no evidence of his using it; not even a hint. His disguises are just that - disguises. Even Shae could see through them, as likely more people could have if they'd known how to look as she did.

Also, while training for FM may entail voluntarily being rendered sterile, I sincerely doubt they would 1. use a method that would be detectable; what if one of their missions requires a seduction? 2. I believe they would wait until the trainee was old enough to understand fully what they were giving up; their training is hard and unbelievably demanding but not cruel. And 3. I believe they would make it as painless as possible. The trainee would already be making the conscious choice to never have a life beyond the order; why make it torture as well?
