From the Dunk & Egg books

So I couldn't purchase the Dunk & Egg books separately & had to buy them in the Legends & Warrior books. I also bought Dangerous Women for The Princess & the Queen (haven't got to Rogue yet for the next one)

Now I have these books with tons of other stories in them & I don't know which to read first!

I was wondering if some of you would be so kind as to tell me which of the other stories from these books are your favorite?

Thanks in advance!

I bought collections for the first two Dunk&egg stories and while I am not sure if I read all the other stories from those volumes, I do not remember anyone I found really good. Even Pratchett (Granny whatever the witch is called story) was decent, but not much more. Among the weak ones were two from historical fantasy, one with a gay vampire (or so) in an 18th century war in Prussia and one on an antebellum Mississippi riverboat.

Tastes differ, but I really got bored by most of the Non-GRRM-Stories in these collections I tried.

Did you get Legends II as well as Legends? There is one of the three D&E stories in it as well.

Warriors is great.

More of a leap into reading in the future: Dangerous Women is supposed to be good, it was only recently returned to me. Will read it soonsh.

Dreamsongs I & II: have to say that is the best I've read since Tolkien and T.H.White.

Also Rogues (am still reading) is great.

Any of the individual stories in Warriors or Rogues stand out to you? I'm trying to figure out which to story to read first.

I got one from the library, and although I never read it, there was an historical author I like I meant to read. I think it was S.K. Penman.

Dangerous Women, A Queen in Exile.

She's not an amazing author, just really really solid, well researched, readable. Her best is IMO the Sunne in Splendour, which comes close to great.

I read A Queen in Exile last night. Thanks for suggesting it. It was very enjoyable.

Like someone else said, pretty much every story in Legends and Legends II are written in an universe the author has already written in so it'll probably depend on which ones you've already read.

I liked pretty much every story in Warriors except for the Weber and the Gabaldon. Those two are the only ones I couldn't get into. All the rest are on the top of their game.

Haven't read Rogues yet so I can't comment. I was rather disappointed with Dangerous Women. I like GRRM's and a couple of others like the Penman. I had such trouble with every other author I hadn't previously read that I started skipping and only doing the ones I had already read. Even then the stories felt really weak.

I agree. There were one or two I enjoyed in Dangerous Women, but for the most part I was disappointed. Luckily I'd only borrowed it from a friend.

Rogues was much better imo. Sure, there were some I didn't enjoy, but I loved the majority of them.
