GRRM : Some fans have guessed the ending

There are basically four options:

1) Daenerys and Jon defeat the Others, marry, and live happily ever after (standard fantasy ending)

2) Daenery will defeat the Others, Jon dies in the battle or by Dragon, Daenery Retakes the Iron Throne

3) Jon will defeat the Others and Daenerys dies in the battle or gets killed by Jon, Jon takes the Iron Throne.

4) They all die and the Others rule Westeros

Boy (4)... Westeros populated by shambling hamburger and Corpse-sicles living forever and doing what? Shuffling around? That's a shaggy dog story!

Everyone goes and lives in Essos?

O well I think of the Narrowly Focused Fans ... they are only interested in R+L = J, which is only a sub-plot, which is interesting, but not an ENDING.

The way it has gone George has painted a setup that involves some Sauran-like conflict with the

OTHERS.

Are people really so interested someone has guessed how this will play out?

I really wonder if people are interested in the real ending??

"1 or 2" fans have guessed the ending. This is why he stays away from the boards.

The question is, is it someone here and what's the theory?

GRRM never said he was talking about the ending as far as i know, this is potential BS.

Agreed. If you read the article and the quotes that they provide from GRRM, nowhere does he say fans have predicted the ending, only that a few fan theories are in fact correct, R+L=J being the obvious assumption.

That article is simply a great example of a provocative and overly-assuming headline used to grab readers' attention.

Yes and it's doing its rounds all over the internet, potentially spreading misinformation all over the shop. Big surprise, the media outlets posting this story havent bothered to look at the source quotes.

I've heard it theorized that the remaining viewpoint characters will all come together again at the end of the series, much like the beginning where they're together in Winterfell. It's interesting to consider what a centralized ending would even consist of. You would think the series will have several endings for several viewpoints in several areas. If George was talking about "the" end in any small way it would have to be referring to the whole story of Roberts Rebellion and how that impacts the War for the Dawn, imho. The Others/imbalanced seasons, AA TPTWP, and RR seem like 3 great mysteries that will come together to form the big "Aha" moment when explained. I think the idea that there are some confirmed correct theories out there is a good thing, it doesn't need to be validated or disproved.

I think the options are endless. Like every book, Winds may have some unexpected twists that change the story forever. Like who knew at the beginning of Storm the red wedding would happen? or even Sansa would marry Tyrion?

And those are predictable endings, however maybe that's why he said someone already have guessed...

Thanks to clarify that.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed Martin would consider changing the ending for even a second. It's not just that the clues are already there in the book (and no way to take them back), the idea of changing things for any reason to me would be a breach of readers trust in the author. It would be a huge no-no.

You're leaving Aegon out of it.

Factor him in and Bran and Mel and whatnot and you should have about 12 or 16 distinct endings.

exaggerated mass media bullshit as always when everything seemingly GOT, actually ASOIAF is concerned

and like always, half-truth and exaggeration in the title of the articles

how could you "guess" the ending before even the third book was published? you would need to write long thesis

this is probably about jon's parentage

The one or two fans, I am one, the Children are allied with the Others, it was not a gift to the Night's Watch (the 100 daggers), but a peace offering.

The Others were raised because the First Men were not obeying the treaty; the same reason the Children/Singers bombed Hardhome, because North of the Wall was theirs and men were building a city in the lands agreed to be given to the Singers in the old treaties.

Because FAegon was introduced in book 5 only he is totally unimportant for the outcome of the story.

Maybe they will even cut him from the tv show.

I think not.

He's the third dragon. "The dragon must have three heads." Or were you planning to nominate someone else?

btw

Quaithe's thing about mummer's dragon is suspect to me. She threw everybody under the bus with the "don't trust . . . " thing - including Tyrion and Quentyn. And the mummer ref is probably Varys who was in an acting troupe in his youth.

And as for Martin not introducing Aegon till book 5 and the TV show cutting him?

The show has not introduced Rhaegar aside from a single mention in S1 and Lyanna as a statue in a crypt. The big reveal is going to go straight over the unsullied's heads because D&D haven't bothered to include anything about them or the toj or Harrenhal or any of it.

So you can ignore what GOT does.

Different world.

Different players.

They also haven't introduced Howland Reed. But for that matter, neither has Martin, so . . .

How they'll handle it I can't guess, but they can't duck Aegon with him and JonCon storming various castle in Westeros and Arianne heading north to propose marriage. Unless something disastrous happens to those guys in book 6, his part is going to become bigger by a lot and thus unavoidable.

Jon being dead (;) )will make it easier for Martin to find space for Aegon.

People take this a bit too seriously, GRRM has always been a guy who mingles with the fans a lot, it's not surprising that of all those people somebody made a guess about something that happened to be true, more than likely Jon's parents and a couple of other things, I don't think this means much.
