Fantasy Football 2014

I made this thread as just a general place to talk about fantasy on all levels (2 QB's, PPR, TD only, standard, etc...).

I normally do two drafts every year, but doing three this year. Already did two of them, and I've been reminded how deep the receiver pool is. If you're doing a standard league (only 2 starting WR's), then you'll most likely have a really good receiver on your bench every week. I'm happy that 2/3 I'm in start three receivers with an opportunity of 4 with the flex position.

Guys like TY Hilton going in the 4th or 5th round is a steal. He's legit the Colts best option and he could realistically be your second or third receiver. In one league, I have Desean Jackson as my third. Not sure how he'll produce this year, but as my third receiver I can't complain.

Backs are suspect as always, and definitely the biggest risk. I was lucky in both drafts with Lacy falling to the 8th pick, and I drafted Shady at the second spot in another, so I'm happy with those two. If you're drafting from 9-12th spot, then I'd be concerned. That's where you'll have to draft a guy who may put up numbers or completely disappoint you. Alfred Morris and Demarco Murray for example. Morris is already fumbling (WEAR SOME DAMN GLOVES), and Murray is an injury concern. Do you really want to role the dice there? Tough call.

As always, I think the receivers and backs make or break your team. QB's can be taken late (Kaep, Matt Ryan, Cutler, Roethlisberger, Brady is even falling now).

I had a draft where I picked 12th. All the RBs I felt comfortable with as 1st rounders were gone, so I doubled down on the Saints with a Brees/Graham combo. Of course, the flip side is that my starting RBs are Ryan Matthews and Chris Johnson. :stunned:

I did a 2nd draft where I picked 3rd and took Peterson, got Julio Jones in the late 2nd, and Alfred Morris in the early 3rd. I'm liking the look of that team a lot better.

Sunday night is my 3rd and final draft, this one a live draft. I'm picking 7th, which is normally a spot in the draft I wouldn't be crazy about, but I'm feeling OK about it. I know my league well enough to know that Peyton will definitely go in the top 6, and Rodgers may too. My hunch is that either Lacy or Forte will still be there for me to take. If not, I'll probably take Demaryius Thomas.

In the only draft I have done so far, I picked 10th. Manning went 2nd, Rodgers went third and Brees went 5th. Calvin Johnson ended up falling to me at 10th, so I doubled down at wr and selected Thomas at 11. From that point on I just stock piled rb knowing qb was not going to be hit for awhile and I already would have the best wr tandem in the league. After the draft I somehow managed to acquire Lacy for victor Cruz and Ellington. My team looks like this

Ryan and Rivers at qb, Lacy, Martin, Gore, Gerhart, and Pierce at RB, Terrance Williams and Markus Wheaton to back up Johnson and Thomas at WR and jordan Reed with Zach Ertz at TE. I feel quite confident in this team if they stay healthy sitting on 3 of the top 10 players in fantasy football and I just hope Ryan bounces back with a healthy Jones and White and has another 30+ td season again.

My first draft is this Sunday, I have another on Labor day, and my third one is TBD.

My labor day draft is my favorite because it's an auction draft. I HATE snake drafts after doing auctions the last two years. Last year I was able to pick up Manning at a HUGE value, which won't happen this year, so it'll be interesting to see what the value picks will be this year.

I think this year is going to be a lot like last year where unless you get the top 1-2 QB's or 1-2 WR's it's all going to be about who gets the right RB combo. I don't think we're going to see a ton of running again this year and the RB position is going to be what sets apart the top teams from the bottom.

Your second team is decent. I'd feel way more comfortable taking Morris as my second back opposed to number one back. Julio should have a great year now that the offense is healthy, and AP will be AP.

Nice team, man. Your receivers are loaded and I think Doug Martin will have a nice year after an injury-plagued sophomore season. I have Lacy as well and love knowing that he'll never go against a loaded box due to Rodgers' arm.

I've never done an auction draft but would be interested in doing one next year. RB's are so tricky. CJ SPiller was a mid first round pick last year and has fallen to at least third round in both drafts I've done this year. Most teams do a RB by committee which is no good for fantasy.

Thanks. I'm am quite excited for this teams potential, considering I am sitting on four potential break out candidates in Reed, Ertz, Williams and Wheaton. I agree with Lacy. Personally I think he will be the top scoring back in fantasy this year. He just needs to stay healthy but his ceiling is sky high

I'm hoping for the same with Lacy. I'm from Pittsburgh and we're all high on Wheaton this year. Given the opportunity to start so it's on him. I think he'll be good.

Reggie Bush in a PPR is very nice. I think Wayne will have a bounce back season too.

Forth pick in 10 team snake non-PPR, help me out. I was hoping to be higher or lower to be honest. Seriously, would taking Manning here be a mistake? I am not excited about the RB selection 4-8 as a cant miss #1, but would feel silly taking a WR or the one TE at 4. Or do I just hope Forte doesn't get hurt and go with the convential RB thing.

Seeing as how I am in a league with you, my best advice is to take a kicker in that spot.No one would expect that...

In a 10-team league, I feel like you should be able to wait until the middle rounds and still get a really good QB. I'd take either Forte or Lacy there. (I'd probably go with Lacy, but that's more a personal thing as I had Forte a couple years ago when he was hobbled by an ankle sprain.)

If it's non ppr I'd go with Lacy there, too. PPR, then yeah go Forte, but Lacy will do better rushing. I'd wait on QB. You can get someone like Stafford, Ryan, Brady, Luck, etc. in the middle rounds. Stafford will probably be the first of them to go.

On Stafford: I picked him in a league where yard bonuses are awarded when a QB eclipses 300 and 400 yards in a game, which I think Stafford should have no problem doing since they throw so much. I agree that he's the best after the aforementioned names.

Would any one here do this trade:

I have Reggie Wayne and Brandin Cooks. I want either Ray Rice or Bishop Sankey. SHould I pull the trigger on one of them? Which one? zTHanks!

Ray Rice has the higher ceiling, but could be a bust. He wasn't his normal self last year, and Stankey is pretty unknown. I'd go with Stankey since it seems like he'll be getting the bulk there. I'd be more willing to get rid of Cooks than Wayne. Cooks will be good but Luck relies on Wayne when healthy.

For what its worth the physical therapist lady...forget her name... on ESPN, said Wayne has come back better from his ACL than anyone in recent memory.

Edit- I also think Andrew Luck is going to have an amazing season.
