Buying the book

Recommended Posts

I want to pre order the book and the recommended site to buy the book from in my country is bookdipository.com - its cheaper with shipping and its considered to be the best site to buy english books for the people of my country.

I want the offical book the us version like the one in amazon with the orange cover, but in bookdipository there is the black uk version and another one but there is no picture of the cover of the book, so i dont know if its the offical version...

Here there is no orange cover book- http://www.bookdepository.com/search?searchTerm=World+of+ice+and+fire&search=Find+book

Amazon version that i want

The black cover is being sold in the UK, so if you're going to order through BookDepository then yes, that will be your cover.

I myself am from Belgium and have pre-ordered from Amazon.de. The book is priced 23.95€ over there, and for me is free of delivery charges since it's a book and that country. I don't know how it will work out for you through that site, but I do think you'd get the reddish version of the book then, and it starts from a much cheaper price than the 33.83€ I seem to be seeing on BookDepository. You're already paying for that delivery that you don't want to pay too much for by getting it there, imo.

Here you can check delivery rates and times: https://www.amazon.de/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_intd_intfee?nodeId=200170100 (in German). Perhaps that'll help you make a decision.

On GRRM website he says they have changed the cover 3 times. So it would make sense to use the other versions of the cover for other versions of the book. I pre-ordered mine through amazon months ago. I hope I get the orange one ;)

Don't 100% go by my words only, but..

The website you talk about (bookdipository.com) has an ISBN number listed for the book which doesn't have a cover picture

When comparing that to this amazon page (the one you linked did not load properly with me, so I started the amazon site again, check the link I've just posted to see if it is the same one you tried to link, perhaps it's the same page and my browser was just acting out :p ), I see the same ISBN number.

So according to my logic, it should be the same book.. Thus with the red cover. The book with the black cover, due to having another publisher, should have another ISBN number.

I had the same issue in my country, where on the online webshop I always preorder stuff like this there were two covers available: the black one, and a white one which I've been told is a very old cover. Because the information from the white one kept changing, and on one page suddenly had a picture of the red cover, and on another the white, I just emailed the shop, and they researched it for me, and it turned out to be the red for me.

Perhaps you can call customer service, or email, and ask whether they can give you information about the cover for that ISBN number..

If it makes you feel any better, I just also compared the ISBN number of the book I've been specifically told by people who've checked it for me, with the book on your website that is still lacking a picture for the cover, and that is also the same ISBN number..

The other hint is that Random House is the one who is releasing the red cover, and that is indeed the one listed as publisher.

I dare say with 99% certainty that this will be the red cover book on bookdipository ;)
