battel of the blackwater screw up

Stannis th3 Mannis

Recommended Posts

Maybe it was addressed and I missed it but why after successfully defending and destroying much of Stannis ' s army did Tywin follow him back to Dragon Stone and either take him out to prevent any issue later or have him bend the knee??? My guess would b there was so much going on with Rod Stark and that war however this dude just attacked u at ur house so seems like a pretty important lose end to tie up

It's because Stannis was no longer a big threat. He had 2,000 men and the Fot7 opposes him, and his only fleet is made up of sellships and led by an infamous pirate. And nobody likes him.

Also, Tywin had no fleet because the Royal Fleet was destroyed at the BW. The Redwyne fleet was at the Arbor and would have taken a long time to go to the other side of the continent.

He lacked a fleet. Stannis had the bulk of the royal fleet, and it got destroyed, as did all the ships Tyrion scrounged up for the defense of KL. He was waiting for the Redwyne fleet to sail around the continent before he attacked.

He still considered him a threat, (This is Stannis Baratheon. The man will fight to the bitter end and then some.), and threw out returning to the Stormlands or sailing for Sunspear as Stannis' possible moves, but he lacked the ability to do anything about it at the time.

What im wondering is, did Stannis take ANY of the Stormlords with him after this battle or did ALL of them either bend the knee or get killed?

There must be some, but apart from Peasebury, i think the ones who stayed are mostly queen's men, which somewhat suggests they're a lot more into R'hllor than Stannis, like Lord Fell.

Horpe is also a possibility since Richard Horpe is with him.

There's Lord Davos Seaworth, Lord Gower, and Lord Rolland Storm: All Storm Lords that are King's Men.

Most of the Stormlords bent the knee, obviously some kept loyal to him, but for example all the Dornish Marcher Lords bent the knee which are some of the strongest Stormland houses. And some of the Estermonts also bent the knee, so he lost a considerable strength of the Stormlords. But you cant really blame them even if they could still get maybe 10 000 men they would not be able to win against the Lannister/Tyrell alliance.

Would have been interesting had Stannis and Doran joined forces, but we will never know

Rolland Storm didn't bend the knee, so Stannis probably has some Caron men left.

I know that, Rolland is one of his most loyal men, and obviously his men would stay loyal to him. I'm saying he lost most of House Caron support and the Marcher Lords due to the defeat, and also remember House Foote was now installed as Dornish Marches Lord. So he doesnt have total control over all the former House Caron and Dornish Marcher Lords anymore. So yes he has some support but not the full support from all the Stormlords thats what I'm trying to get at

Jon sees the Caron Nightingales with the other banners when Stannis smashes the wildlings. The Stormlands are now under the Lannister yoke, with most Stormlords having provided hostages to the crown. It's not that the Stormlands now accept thier Lannister overlords, and it's not that the men of house Caron are now loyal to House Foote. It's like the Riverlands - Hostages and wards, and holdings who have not bent the knee would be taken and given new overlords.
