How will Sansa regain winterfell? If she does, will she raise an army and declare herself Queen of the North? Or will she join stannis?

So, I am really interested to see how things turn out for Sansa. How will she regain winterfell? She will have the support of the vale for sure (that is a lot of troops!). Then, will she call out for all the previous stark allies (the entire north minus the freys and Boltons). Will they join her?

Let's assume she gets back winterfell somehow. If she does, she will definitely have all the houses of the North, except the boltons ; the vale and the Riverlands, except the freys (maybe ser brynden might return hearing Sansa having taken over winterfell) on her side. That means a lot of troops. What will she do next? Will she declare herself Queen of the North and fight her own battle? She will definitely not kneel to the iron throne. She might even join stannis since they have a common enemy, the lannisters.

Whatever it is, I believe it will be KICKASS! because Sansa will definitely have a LOT of power if she means to get winterfell back. If she joins stannis, the war will tip HEAVILY in his favour as more than half the realm will be on his side.

I think that Sansa will hold Winterfell until she can find Jon and make him King. Even though she had the same views on Jon that her mother had, in her eyes he is the only famly that she has left. She does not know Bran and Rickon are alive and does not know where Arya has gone, for all she knows Arya could be dead also. I think she will ask Jon to come back to Winterfell and help her make it the home that they used to know. Even though Sansa has been impacted by all the scheaming and plotting by Joffery, Cersei, and Littlefinger, I believe deep down she is still the girl who believes in knights and ladies and their places in society.

Why is she assured of the Vale's support?

I don't say it's unlikely, but I don't think it's a lock, either. If she's revealed as Sansa Stark, their impetus is mostly nostalgia. If she's not, it rests on her dubious status as LF's illegitimate daughter/possible marriage with HtH. Not exactly the Canadian Shield.

:agree:

The Vale armies are not a sure fire bet for her at this point in the story. I'm sure there's willingness on their part to help out in the North, but the Riverlands will be a more immediate problem for them.

I still think Bran will be back and become KotN, Lord of Winterfell, Warden of the North..yadda yadda yadda.None of the Starks will reclaim Winterfell individually, it will be a (team) pack effort of them working together, each doing their part...not to mention all except Jon at this point are currently minors. He will be last in line of succession because R+L=J. Not to say he won't stick around as regent for Bran.

The support of the entire Vale is not assured, but once she revealed herself as Sansa Stark, the last KNOWN living descendant of Eddard Stark and the widely accepted legitimate heiress to Winterfell and the entire North, houses like the Royces, Waynwoods, Redforts and Templetons will surely rally to her side since they are her last living blood relatives after her siblings, the Tullys and Sweet Robin. And these houses are among the most powerful families in the Vale, who's combined might, along with House Belmore, can raise 20,000 men.. Yohn Royce is among Robb Stark's greatest supporters in the Vale, close to open revolt against Lysa Arryn from her failure to assist her own nephew in the war.. Plus she is still the Lord of the Vale's first cousin and remaining blood relative and the long standing Lannister hate was prompt the enitre Vale to declare for her..

Widely accepted by who?

Widely accepted by the entire Seven Kingdoms.. None except a handful know that Bran and Rickon Stark are still alive, so does Arya.. In the knowledge of the entire realm, Sansa Stark is the rightful heiress to Winterfell and the North (except for Roose Bolton, Ramsay Snow, Wyman Manderly, Robett Glover, Davos Seaworth, Theon Greyjoy, Wex Pyke, etc)..

Got my own theory:Stannis/Boulton army is coming to climatic bit. Stannis prepares siege on WF and once both sides are at a miserable point LF will ride in with men swooping both sides out. He'll declare Sansa queen of the North and she will form a natural alliance with Petyr. I've got a bet on LF sitting the iron throne. I'm confident I can win.

If Sansa wants to claim Winterfell she had best be quick about it or Manderly and Rickon will beat her to it. In all reality, Sansa cannot become QitN without the support of Manderly, Glover, Mormont and Reed and none of them will declare for her. And she wouldn't want to anyway once they tell her of Bran and Rickon's survival.
