I don't know, but I was pretty angry at this stuff. I don't know who would be desperate enough to do such stuff. And to think they have the audacity to sell 'more' stuff for bitcoins!

The backlash on Mary Elizabeth Winstead's twitter page particularly disgusted me. It is not the women's fault, people it's the creeps. Technology today has certainly reached disturbing levels.

I think the perpetrator will be facing jail and apparently they can find them due to the stupid idea of trying to make money off it and linking to an account. Although whether this is the person who committed the hack or is just an opportunist off the hack itself remains to be seen,

It's not really anything new for the UK - our press used to do it too.

It does act as a good warning for everybody (although I guess people don't bother trying to hack muggles). Anything that can exist on the internet can be found.

Creepy behaviour has existed long before the internet. Refuse to acknowledge it, boycott those that condone it, or try to profit from it and if you are the victim, as hard as it may be, refuse to accept the shaming and know that there is at least one person who will support you, and I suspect, many more also.

This kind of thing happens to non-celebrities everyday, people only get enraged and disturbed because it's happening to celebrities.

People need to know about it to be enraged. When it happens to a celebrity, it hits millions of people, especially one as popular as Jennifer Lawrence. Kind of a different scale all together.

At this point, if I was her, I'd just own it. Nothing much you can do otherwise at this point. Her self-depreciating humor could diffuse this situation well.

Ummm, no. I'm pretty enraged about this sort of shit all the time. You see it in revenge porn where women are shamed and have to fear that a picture they took once for their boyfriend for example might end up online one day, might be found by potential employers, by people they know know etc.

@mexal; i agree. At this point they should just own it because there's nothig wrong with their bodies BUT this sort of shit should just not be happening. They shouldnt have to explain or defend themselves because these photos should never have been leaked in the first place.

Grade A assholery on behalf of the hacker and certainly a punch-worthy endeavor.

While I agree with people saying that there are far worse things out there to get enraged, I also believe that this (the "nude-pics stealing and publicizing" part not the "because its celebrities" part) generally gets much less rage that it should.

Not really. If it happened to me or someone i personaly know i might feel different but why should i be outraged about such relatively minor issue of people i do not know. There far worse things currently happening in the World which makes me angry. I would feel silly to be outraged about something insignificant as nude photos.

Btw. it is really interesting to watch how media dealing with this scandal. It seems many US media fear to write anything about it for fear of lawsuit (even though i am sure they really really want to write about it). I myself learned about it from The Guardian, how typical for them to make this "outrage" the main story, so nobody can miss it and everyone can get those images and be oh so outraged as The Guardian editors.

BBC radio 1 actually had a week focusing on this and had a webpage telling young folks how to be safe with these types of things. I guess the average person has some defence in their anonymity although it must be terrible for the victim within a local community.

While people should be free to do whatever they want with their mobile phones, the only way to be safe is not to take these kinds of pictures.

Some celebs do do this on purpose which is fine if it's with their consent although these examples are from celebs having them stolen. While I'm sure it doesn't really damage their standing in terms of hollywood it is still deeply embarassing for them and a massive invasion of privacy. Like others have said there's two options for them; own it and seek compensation/justice from those who stole the pictures.

Please don't use this as a justification.

It isn't a justification just proof of how low on the totem pole of problems this is.

Yes it's an invasion of privacy and massively creepy on the hacker's part, but not disturbing. A girl dragged through the streets and sentenced to death because she was gangraped and thus 'dishonored' her family.. THAT'S fucking disturbing to me. Not some nudes of girls that prance around half naked all the time anyway. At the end of the day: they're just nude pictures. They'll get over it.

And as someone above pointed out, if this happened to someone close to me then yes, I'd be pissed. But it didn't. It happened to people that chose to live in the public eye, fully aware that this sort of shit happens regularly.

No, not really proof of that. That's like saying because some people enjoy BDSM, torture is not a big deal.

Some of the "targets" of this case will shrug it off and others will take it much worse. This has nothing to do with some other celebrities releasing nude pics on purpose.

No, I'm not outraged. There's so much shit that's happened in the lives of people close to me and of just many thousands and millions of people around the world in more dire situations to really care about this. These celebrities don't know or care about the troubles that face the lives of any of us, so I don't see any reason to be particularly upset about this. I'm aware this sounds really cold, but there's no other way for me to put it. I'm so sick of shit like this making headlines when there's truly important things that people need to know about going on.
