Varys and Aegon

I wonder how Varys will roll with the change of plans not what Aegon is in Westeros without Dany. Any predictions?

Will he leave KL to go to him now or remain hidden to create more chaos?

Is that why he had to eliminate Kevan? To make KL unstable under Cersei for Aegon's conquest?

Wonder if the Tyrells will see Aegon as a better potential husband for their Maergery.

At this time I see Varys doing his thing in creating conflict between the Tyrells and Lannisters aka Cersei maybe even having a hand in the death of the present King Tommen. As for Maergery it will depend how soon will her execution take place after losing her trial by combat so that Varys could arrange her escape that is if she has any value !

The Tyrells already have all the power they wanted so what could fAegon and Varys possibly give them that they dont have already? The have Queen, Hand of the King, and another 2 small council positions. I can only see them possibly flipping is if Marg is killed, Tommen is killed or Cersei kicks all of them off the small council. Other than that I can only see the Tyrell-Lannister alliance keeping together against fAegon, however that doesnt mean the Reach will keep together

So perhaps Varys kills Tommen (yes really cruel killing such a young boy). Also we are taking it as a given that Arianne is going to marry fAegon. I've got a feeling, that Doran has feeling that fAegon is fake, and instead of Arianne marrying fAegon. fAegon marries Myrcella (kinda like War of the Roses) and easier coming into power. Just a wild theory

with aegon the tyrells would get a king without a family and only one real political advisor (joncon) who is going to die soon. aegon would be under total control of the tyrells. tommen still has relaltives who could influence him sooner or later (and if cersei manages to win her trial and get back to power this would be reason enough to prefer aegon). aegon has an army that is highly trained and experienced (and ready to fight instantly) while lannisters lost much military strength and need to train new soldiers. aegon has a better claim, especially former targaryen loyalists would prefer him.

i think the advantages are obvious and it would be easy to replace tommen with aegon as they already control KL, so they could just tell tommen to open the gates for their army and sack KL for aegon. the only ones who might resist are a few lannister soldiers and some KG-members, so there wouldn't be a real fight.

would be interesting though if they do it and aegon refuses their marriage pact as he wants to wait for dany.

it is time for Varys to come out with some proofs (ie some Robert bastards) that Tommen is not a Baratheon.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Tyrells are much too tied to Tommen. They would be fools to jump ship when they're already wed to the current reigning king and holding the capitol. Also... Margeary having been married three times makes it highly unlikely Aegon would ever take her. He sees himself as someone worthy of a greater marriage, couple that with his advisers telling him to wed Dany and her dragons once she returns. Aegon and Co. are likely to ally with Dorne, while Varys will work toward a chaotic King's Landing.

I suspect that Dorne will ally with Aegon and the Golden Company, they will take Highgarden to force Mace out of King's Landing. Meanwhile, the Dragon flying on the Aegon's banners will cause petty lords to flock to him. I believe that, by the end of WoW, Aegon will hold King's Landing, the Iron Throne, and the Realm. The Martells will believe they made the right decision in allying with him. Tommen will be killed, Myrcella and Margeary held as hostages, Mace Tyrell defeated, and Cersei... I have no idea about Cersei.

I think Varys will continue to destabilize the region to ease Aegon's arrival. Having Kevan out of the way should give Cersei more influence again, which should turn the common people to Aegon. I think she can single hand-idly run KL into the ground.

I'm also pretty sure Varys and Illirio have a contingency plan for just about everything. He's prepared for Aegon to come alone.

Not sure what will happen to the Tommen/Marg marriage - but it should be fun to watch (read)!

Varys will probably like to see Aegon marry Margaery; however Littlefinger and/or Sansa are going to throw a wrench into that. Aegon's destined to marry Sansa.

One tiny little problem both Margaery and Sansa are still married and until that little problem is resolved like Tommen having an accident of a sword cutting off his head Margaery will still be married to Tommen. Same thing with Sansa unless Cersei or LF can get their hands on Tyrien well no marriage for Sansa either.
