True Detective X - Bring Ginger Into Your Heart (Season One spoilers, Season Two speculation / casting)

What's the point of making a 'second season' that has absolutely nothing in common with the first one? Just to cash in on a successful name?

What's the point of continuing on with Cohle and Marty's story? It's been told. This isn't Blue Bloods.

I'm excited for CF. Really enjoyed In Bruges as other people have pointed out. SOmeone also said that they weren't a fan of McC before TD, which is a good point, so let's keep that in mind for those skeptical of Farrell.

I was pretty surprised when I heard about the VV casting. Doesn't seem like his type of gig but I'm sure he can pull it off. Trust in HBO I do have.

Vince Vaughn played a serial killer in an odd little movie called "Clay Pigeons" which co-starred Joaquim Phoenix. I thought he was really good in it.

That was an amazing movie... Here are a couple of clips

In my opinion, Vince Vaughn is an inspired choice for True Detective,

I hope they keep some of the occult elements.

Maybe not to the same degree, but that sense of pervasive wrongness in the world really built up S1.

I seem to remember that the creator gave a one-sentence description of S2 that went like

"It's about bad men, hard women and the occult history of the American transportation system". Something close to that, at least.

I think that without any of the lead actors from S1, removing the occult element as well would make it have very little to do with True Detective.

Agree. This is the first movie I remember him in and always thought he was an incredible villain, an intense juxtaposition of scary and sexy.

Taylor Kitsch confirms his involvement in season 2 of TD.

Not too sure how to feel about this. I've never really liked the guy, in any of the stuff I've seen him in. I've heard that he was decent in Friday Night Lights though.

Most of his films seem to be cursed but everyone says he was great in FNL so maybe TV is where he can get things back on track?

HBO is putting finishing touches on the cast for the second season of True Detective ahead of the Friday table read. I have learned that Kelly Reilly (Black Box) is finalizing a deal for a regular role, while Michael Irby (Almost Human), Abigail Spencer (Suits) and Leven Rambin (Hunger Games) are either set or close to deals for recurring roles.

I'm very concerned about Season 2. There's zero chance this cast can match McConaughey/Harrelson.

Probably but I agree with Mark Antony:

Meh I'm not worried about it, season 1 was far from flawless and its HBO.
