Did Jon ever tell recruits at Castle Black that wildings fought with two swords or was that only in the show? And was there ever a scene where a wilding fought with two swords?

Only show. And not that I remember.

The wildlings on the show have more swords than the actual wildlings from the books.

@Game Of Thrones asked in the previous thread:

What happened to Puddle's sword?

If Puddles is the Other that is killed by Sam, Grenn holds the dagger currently (haven't cheked further chapters yet to see if Grenn has given it back to Samwell)

Sam rolled onto his side, eyes wide as the Other shrank and puddled, dissolving away. In twenty heartbeats its flesh was gone, swirling away in a fine white mist. Beneath were bones like milkglass, pale and shiny, and they were melting too. Finally only the dragonglass dagger remained, wreathed in steam as if it were alive and sweating. Grenn bent to scoop it up and flung it down again at once. “Mother, that’s cold.”

“Obsidian.” Sam struggled to his knees. “Dragonglass, they call it. Dragonglass. Dragon glass.” He giggled, and cried, and doubled over to heave his courage out onto the snow.

Grenn pulled Sam to his feet, checked Small Paul for a pulse and closed his eyes, then snatched up the dagger again. This time he was able to hold it.

“You keep it,” Sam said. “You’re not craven like me.”

“So craven you killed an Other.” Grenn pointed with the knife. “Look there, through the trees. Pink light. Dawn, Sam. Dawn. That must be east. If we head that way, we should catch Mormont.”

“If you say.” Sam kicked his left foot against a tree, to knock off all the snow. Then the right. “I’ll try.” Grimacing, he took a step. “I’ll try hard.” And then another.

This is where the chapter ends. Grenn still has the knife.

My next re-read question:

It seems that the Stark boys (at least Robb, Bran and Jon) share a bedroom. Why? Certainly not for lack of space? The girls do have separate bedrooms... I find this sleeping arraingement a little strange . Or did GRRM mean slumber parties :D ?

Quotes:

"He had thought on it long and hard, lying abed at night while his brothers slept around him" (Jon).

"... one night he had gone out the window of his bedroom when his brothers were fast asleep" (Bran).

I think the question was what happened to the sword that was wielded by Puddles...

My two boys share a room because we want them to grow up that way.

I might be wrong, but the impression I got was that the boys slept together in winter, for warmth. Is there any indication that they didn't have their own rooms? Arya did, no?

Didn't one or both of the Walders take up residence in Jon's old room?

Has Bran even experienced a winter?

Maybe not a proper winter, but if "summer snows" are a thing then it must get pretty cold in the north in autumn.

The other explanation is that they slept in the same room on occasion, maybe cold nights. I can remember as a child sleeping in the same room with my three siblings during a blackout, for example.

Makes sense for Robb and Jon, but not for Bran, who is seven years younger... :) . I don't mind kids sleeping in the same room, if they like it and get along well. I just wanted to find out whether this arraingement was permanent or temporary. At first, when I read Jon's quote, I thought the boys were moved together temporarily because the rooms were needed for the king's party. But when I got to Bran's quote, I realized that they slept in the same room on other occasions as well. I was just wondering how long it took Jon to decide to join the NW. "He had thought on it long and hard, lying abed at night while his brothers slept around him" - Jon thinks that at the feast. If the boys just moved together before the arrival of the KL crowd, then it took him only a couple of nights to decide, but if they shared a room all the time, it could be longer... :) .
