Universal Sword Donor
Or did Robert just left them alone? Robert probably just made him swear fealty when Balon surrendered.
aryagonnakill#2
It is never mentioned that he went to KL, but it is mentioned that Robert went to Pyke...

Yep, he and Ned helped with the Lordsport and Pyke renovation and remodel.
Aerys Blackfyre
I reckon Balon wasn't the Lord of the Iron Islands at that time, his father was; about swearing fealty, I do not know
Magnar of Skagos
I reckon Balon wasn't the Lord of the Iron Islands at that time, his father was; about swearing fealty, I do not know Balon was Lord of the Iron Islands during Roberts Rebellion and the Greyjoy Rebellion. Bluetiger
I reckon Balon wasn't the Lord of the Iron Islands at that time, his father was; about swearing fealty, I do not know Quellon died during the Rebellion. His ship was sank at Mander.
RumHam
The worldbook makes it clear that he did not: Yet when Balon Greyjoy was brought before King Robert in chains, the ironman remained defiant. “You may take my head,” he told the king, “but you cannot name me traitor. No Greyjoy ever swore an oath to a Baratheon.” Robert Baratheon, ever merciful, is said to have laughed at that, for he liked spirit in a man, even in his foes. “Swear one now,” he replied, “or lose that stubborn head of yours.”
DigUpHerBones
IIRC, the Greyjoys have NEVER bent the knee... Balon was Lord of the Iron Islands during Roberts Rebellion and the Greyjoy Rebellion. Balon was certainly not the Lord of The Iron Islands at the time of RR... By the very end he was, but Quellon ran that show
RumHam
IIRC, the Greyjoys have NEVER bent the knee... Well he did after his first rebellion failed. That quote I posted continues: And so Balon Greyjoy bent his knee and was allowed to live, after giving up his last surviving son as a hostage to his loyalty. Edit: also they bent their knees to Aegon I.
DigUpHerBones
i see the error in my ways : "No man has ever died from bending his knee. He who kneels may rise again, blade in hand. He who will not kneel stays dead, stiff legs and all."
DigUpHerBones
do not know why i mixed up Dorne with Greyjoy there, but, i did, and i failed...
Ser Leftwich
Keep them straight. Two different rebellions: Robert's Rebellion and Greyjoy's Rebellion.
