Septa Mordane
I'd like to get a general opinion on whether or not I should read the graphic novels, even though they don't have GRRM's full text. Are the graphics that good? Will I miss anything by not reading the full text (descriptions of things, narration, etc) or do most people just read the graphic novels anyway? Please give me your thoughts
motherofkitties
The graphic novels did a very good job of adapting the story, especially The Hedge Knight. I found them to be about the same. The Sworn Sword is a more complex story and I think a bit was lost in translation, but it still did a good job of covering the important stuff from a narrative and character perspective.I recommend the novellas first and graphic novels second. The art alone is good enough to keep interest during a familiar story. There are a few great panels during battle scenes. I just hope we get more D&E adaptations. The hairy bear
Reading the novellas is obviously a better choice. You should only consider the alternative if you are one of those persons who defend that "the movie is better than the book" on a regular basis. Septa Mordane
I'm having a hard time finding the novellas online. The cheapest one I found was about $90... :/ but the graphic novels are only about $10. Is that normal?
K-26dp
Here's the books on Amazon: The Hedge Knight, $15.01 The Mystery Knight, $7.19 The Sworn Sword is from the Legends II anthology and isn't as easily found, but I'm sure you could find it on eBay or even a local library. Alternatively, if you have Kindle, it is available for 5.99 on Amazon.

Paxter
Definitely read the short stories. The graphic novels are fine, but the art style is a bit hit and miss in my view.
