Is Daenerys making Drogon murderous or, is Drogon making Daenerys murderous?

In the short stories "The Princess and the Queen" and "The Rogue Prince" we get a lot of info on dragons and dragon riders. We learn that even wild dragons rarely eat people and many of them avoid people entirely. "Sheep Stealer" liked to steal sheep, but never bothered the shepherds although he ate there dogs sometimes. We also learn that there is definitely at least similar relationship between a good dog and its master if not a psychic connections. The quote I was looking for says something like, "they share one anothers hates".

Daenerys has pretty much raised her dragons the way its been done in the past. She keeps the egg until it hatches, raises the hatchling, then rides it once it gets big enough.

She has grown steadily more violent since the dragons were born. She has gone from trying to stop others from coming to harm all the way to being willing (and even eager) to torture/kill/slaughter on a massive scale.

So my question is this, is Daenerys blood thirsty murderous tendencies causing her dragon to eat children, or was Drogon just born a mean dragon and his nastiness is rubbing off on her and driving down the value of human life in her mind?

I am leaning towards her poisoning the dragons mind. Even before her dragons were born she had ordered her brother killed and MMD tortured to death for doing what she was told.

I think its more her neglecting them and also using them as weapons. She has taught them (and told them) to burn people to death so its not surprising they burn people to death. They dont know anything else besides eating and burning as she never bothers to actually try and train them.

Did Ramsay corrupt Reek, or vice versa?

Dany and Drogon compete with each other, to see which can perform the most outrageous acts of wickedness. Each of them delights in torture, rape, and the murder of innocents.

This could be true, back in Astapor she ordered Drogon to burn Kraznys, and ordered Rhaegal and Viserion to burn the other masters present. Before that, they never attacked humans (if I recall correctly). The dragons were still so young back in Astapor, perhaps that is also part of why they have become so murderous.

Dany didn't "make" him a murderer. She merely failed at teaching and controlling him. she's certainly responsible but I wouldn't say she's "making" him murderous. She will though. Can't make an omelet, yada yada....

Drogon isn't making Dany worse. She has the same compassion as she always has. She herself (in the form of Jorah) is saying that dragons plant no trees, which means she's known all along the potential she has for being destructive but tried to hide and deny it. "You locked your dragons away."

So if Dany is in fact become more murderous, it's not because of Drogon. And she's not lost any of her compassion for people.

Or did Drogon not eat the child?

He ate the child. Hazzea

They are fire breathing dragons. I think that should be explanation enough for their behavior. Is anyone expecting them to behave like unicorns?

"Like their dragons the Targaryens answered to neither gods nor men."

That is when I became Targaryen loyalist, and Daenerys so far failed to deliver, just like with the wolves I find this generation of dragons disappointing, more fire and blood would be nice.

Is this for real OP? :bang:

Lol, Yes exactly! Dany often thinks to herself,

Fee-fi-fo-fum,

I smell the blood of an Englishman,
Be he live, or be he dead
I'll grind his bones to make my bread

Jesus!

Also Drogon is not a mean dragon. Didn't you see them cuddling on HBO earlier this year?

Not just there, it's in the books as well.

Here is a quote of them being cute together that BearQueen provided earlier on the re-read.

'Drogon looped his neck around to nip at her hand. His teeth were very sharp, but he never broke her skin when they played like this. Dany laughed, and rolled him back and forth until he roared, his tail lashing like a whip.'

I don't think Dnay is getting steadily more violent, she is traveliing through a dangerous and violent part of the world, ever since she left Pentos. She has to deal with what life sets in front of her.
