The Young Bear Posted September 17, 2014 Share Posted September 17, 2014 I thought I'd start up a discussion regarding the media and Game of Thrones theories... websites like BuzzFeed really irritate me when they put 'new' and 'mind-blowing' in their blog titles just because they found a thirteen-year-old theory by happenstance before using it to garner more ratings. Theories such as R + L = J continue to 'resurface' and are used in a continuous circle jerk of view whoring when one website passes on the news, and they don't even have the common decency to provide credit or sources to the people who've constructed a theory over time (even mentioning Westeros.org helps) as they actually observed the book instead of being lazy, reposting it without sources and credits, then having a few people think BuzzFeed or whatever media source in this circle jerk of view-whoring came up with this. I'll admit I haven't watched Season 4 yet, but the main piece of evidence that specifically supports R+L (as opposed to the more general "Ned is not Jon's father" theory) is Ned's Tower of Joy flashback in book 1, and that wasn't in the show. I'll admit I haven't watched Season 4 yet, but the main piece of evidence that specifically supports R+L (as opposed to the more general "Ned is not Jon's father" theory) is Ned's Tower of Joy flashback in book 1, and that wasn't in the show. Yeah, there is only a few spots in the first season that even hint at Ned not being his father and very, very little hinting at R+L. My gf is an unsullied who has watched every season multiple times and doesn't even know who Rhaegar or Lyanna are. So the story is that Christian Post which is basically a news website about christian news with an entertainment area which is probably to get more views while reporting off of other news outlets. Anyway, like BuzzFeed, they're in the 'circlejerk of view whoring' as well but the worst part is that today they speculated that the next installment in the series won't be published until another three years. Or a decade. I have no comment for this except my middle finger to the media, because it used to be writing honest news.
