Domeric Bolton?

What was Dom Bolton like I wonder?

Roose describes him as a quiet, bookish fellow who loved riding horses. He sounds sort of like either Bran or Jon Snow or one of the other Stark kids. He probably was nothing like Ramsey, since it is said he got along well with other people. He seems like a kind, friendly person, partly because he rode out to find Ramsey ( against Roose's express orders) because he wanted a relationship with his brother. Big mistake!

Would of brought the Boltons a age of goodness. The flayed man would be struck from the banners and The Dreadfort would be normal. It's a shame, really.

If you think a place called the Dreadfort can ever be normal, you are kidding yourself. Domeric might well have been the most mild Bolton yet, but the power of the Boltons is based on the fear they inspire. If Domeric inspired no fear ,the other lords of the north would not respect the Boltons.

loyalty would of done the Boltons well. The Starks are honourable people and wouldn't say he's a joke or something.

Dreadfort is just a name and a flayed man is just a banner. I see no reason why the lords would not have respected Domeric as they respect Manderlys, Umbers, Tallharts and so on.

I have a crackpot theory that Domeric might be alive, also. Would explain some of Roose's weird behavior.

sadly we know so little about Domeric, but it seems like Roose cared about him (even though I still find it hard to believe that roose cares about anyone...). he romanticized him for sure. I really wish we knew more about Domeric, I have a special place in my heart for him!

The Starks behead and root out traitors in their keeps when they disobey. The entire Westerosi structure from the Wall to Dorne is based on power and fear of reprisal.

Their power is based on the size of their holdings, levies and wealth etc.

They're not going to disregard the powerful Boltons just because the House's current lord isn't spooky.

But what your saying (which is completely true, and even true in our day and age) doesn't contradict what he says. The fear of reprisal is on the side of the bannerman fearing from his liege lord. At the point when Domeric is killed/murdered Roose had no idea that Ned was going to lose his head, and Robb was going south and make some pretty dumb choices, and that Roose was going to put himself into a position to be Warden of the North. What you said is totally true, but it's the Boltons/Umbers/Karstarks/Manderlys/etc that should be afraid of the Starks. Not the Umbers vs the Boltons or whatever. Because if Domeric is as loyal as ASongofAzorAhai said, the Starks would have mediated the dispute and Domeric's loyalty could possibly have won the Starks to his side. And so long as Domeric has his levies and loyalty to the Starks, that should be fear of reprisal enough. Idk, I think Domeric would have made a fine Bolton lord (partly because I think he was Brandon Stark's bastard with Bethany Bolton and that's why Barbrey Ryswell hates the Starks. She loved Brandon, but he bestowed a child upon her sister. Which would also explain why Barbrey was so fond of him, he was the Stark "son" she never had.) and bannerman to Winterfell.

“I have become oddly fond of my fat little wife. The two before her never made a sound in bed, but this one squeals and shudders. I find that quite endearing.”

I am thinking same thing that some day Roose may have taking his face Domeric instead of Ramsay I can't wait for that day I hope they will show it on GOT! I am thinking about this theory Roose knows that the baby that his Fat wife is carrying will not last long after he is dead if he skin change with Ramsay why would he think that baby is dead. My theory that he wait for couple a years after his stage death then wait in halls of Dreafort for Ramsay then he do this face changing.

It is not a name, it is not a banner. It is a legacy. No other family lives in a place like the Dreadfort. No one else has stories of skinning their foes. The Rock has its oubliettes. The Red Keep has the Black Cells. The Deadfort has its skins. The Boltons are known through out the north for their cruelty. They are known for their savagery. If Domeric was a good person, he would have threatened that legacy.

You don't think there have been any nice Boltons for thousands of years?

Maybe, not a lot, and they certainly wouldn't have lasted long if they were alive now. Sure there were probably some nice Boltons, but they were Summer Boltons, Spring Boltons. Winter is coming, and the Dreadfort needs to live up to its name to survive.
